e

~

The 1997 peak summer day demand was 3.2 million gallons, and the 1998 peak summer day is
estimated to be 3.8 million gallons. Well No.3, which was completed in 1997, is producing
1500 gallons per minute. Although Well No.4 is not yet complete, analysis of its test well
shows the aquifer formation to be nearly identical to Well No.3 except it is slightly thicker.
Therefore, we expect equal or greater capacity from Well No.4 compared with Well No.3. The
utility is expected to have firm well capacity through 2000 at which time another well will need
to be constructed to meet demand. According to the 1994 Comprehensive Plan, the geology of
the western well field, where most of the new wells are proposed to be constructed, indicates the
potential for up to eight wells in this area.

The utility's water supply is sustainable as far as the available natural resources are concerned.
In addition, the City can finance the required utility improvement under its current rate structure.
