...

e
CITY OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA

.

Subject:

Consider Adoption of a Resolution requesting that
the Metropolitan Council grant a _month
extension for submittal of Comprehensive Plan
update.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this item is to consider adoption of the attached Resolution requesting that the Metropolitan Council approve
a _month extension for submittal of Ramsey's Comprehensive Plan update. Specifically, the request is to consider
extending the submittal deadline from December 1998 to , 1999. The attached Resolution and application
"Request for Extension of Planning Period," must be approved by the City Council in order for the Metropolitan Council to
formally consider the extension request.

BACKGROUND
The City of Ramsey has been working in earnest on the Comprehensive Plan update since September 1997, To date, a series
of public input/information meetings have taken place including a Public Information Meeting; Vision Session; Concept
Review Session and special interest meetings. The Comprehensive Plan is in draft form and is available for review and
comment by the public. A public hearing is scheduled for the December 1 Planning Commission Meeting where public input
will be heard. The Planning Commission may act on the plan at that meeting or defer the decision to a future meeting. If the
decision is deferred, the City Council will not act on the plan until after the holiday season.

The extension is being requested to allow appropriate time for public review and comment and to ensure public meetings do
not conflict with the holiday season.
