This alternative may have less impact on <br />existing development or parkland. <br /> <br />Gatewa~6 <br />Gateways begin to tell us about Ramsey, its identity and its history. They are seen at <br />major roadways as you travel south from Burns Township into Ramsey or as you head <br />north off of Highway 10. The appearance of a gateway can vary from a simple stand of <br />oaks to streetscape designs to a monument sign. <br /> <br />Shoppin4 Noa85 <br />Shopping nodes contain convenient shopping areas) which serve the basic necds of <br />Ramsey residents as well as those who are passing through. <br /> <br />Recreational Areas <br />Recreational parks include areas with high use and activity primarily focused on athletics <br />and exercise. Some of the more prominent areas include the golf courses and Central <br />Park. Many smaller neighborhood parks also providc recreational activities. <br /> <br />5cettic Roaawa..V5 <br />Some stretches of roadway in Ramsey provide opportunities for scenic vistas that <br />preserve the rural character of the community. An overlay district that designates <br />roadways as having significant scenic values would apply design and planning principles <br />to preserve the rural character of the community. <br /> <br />Parkways <br />Parkways can provide an identity to a city or area and still allow efficient and safe traffic <br />flow. They can provide connections between fooal points within the community and can <br />safely combine trail corridors within the road right of way. Parkways would act as <br />collectors relieving some residential streets of heavy traffic attempting to cross the <br />community in an east and west direction. <br /> <br />Recreational Trail <br />Recreational trails connect the various focal points of the community such as the <br />Mississippi River, the Rum River, Trott Brook.
