AJ1yway, use these ideas as you wish. J basically just staned brainstorming with ideas 1 ha.ve <br />learned from Gary and Bob's strategy in the AEP as wen as other limited e.xperience.<i;. <br /> <br />'4. <br />These ideas could be applied to two broad areas. The first is tfie entire Highway 10 Conidor and the <br />second is the area shown as places to work on the draft fUUlre land use plan.. ,north of the tracks. <br />Redevelopment is ~ critical piece in both areas and should be talked about with the EDA. These are just <br />some ideas for you to Jook at and respond to. Let me bow what you think... <br /> <br />An Economic Development Strategy (what should we do): <br /> <br />· Work with major employers (and small employers depending on ability and resoUICes) to assist with <br />their space planning needs, buffering uses. environment clean up. ex.pansion. labor needs. etc.... <br />· Open up dialogue between. City offic:ials and major busine;ss oWDexs to ensure needs axe being met <br />and to identify shortfalls. <br />· Maintain an inventory/database of business types (office. office showroom. incubator building. <br />warehousing. machine shop. and identify where gaps occur to ensure a diversity of business types. <br />(this leads to a diversity of wages and labor force needs as well) <br />· Keep up to date on minimum/average wages to ensure a range of job opportunities. <br />· Keep up to date on vacancy rates and the overall absorption rate for officelindostrial development in <br />the MetrolNonh metro area. <br />· Establish policy as to kinds of incentives the City is willing to give for attracting business. <br />. Set up educational training programs with ADokalHennepin tech courses. <br />· Ensure commerciallindustrlal development has access to trails. parks. service needs, sbopping. eating, <br />etc. close by so that employees can walk Qr conveniently go to hinch, shop. run errands. .. <br />.
