Chamber of COmmeIce. neighboring <br />communities. NAIOP, EDAM. eto.... <br />. Dileot prospective business interests to major landowners within the community. <br />. Establish an annual event to show respect to local business owners and to invite new businesses in (If <br />one does not already exist). <br />· Others... <br /> <br />Establish an Economic De~opmen't Team (who Wlll do it): <br /> <br />1. A dealmaker as a negotiator who can close a deal as well as someone who is in touch with a. Jot of <br />companies looking to move (the Gary Scouts and Ed Bocks as we know) <br />2. A planner to ensure proper site design. zoning controls, and architectural standards are met (this <br />is someone who works directly with the clients engineers and architectS to ensure all required <br />design elements are taken care of up front and that the best design gets brought fonh early in the <br />process rather than going back and forth. The idea is that the city is easy to work with because <br />they know what they want and what it should look like and convey this upfront and early.) <br />3. A financial analyst/or broker to review incentiveslfinances (this could be a conl;uitant or the <br />finance director) <br />4. An engineer to ensure quality infrasll'ucture and utilities and that the designers are not trying to <br />cut comers. which often may occur. <br />S. A building inspector to ensure quality constrUction and monitor what is happening in the field. <br />6. An attorney to review legal documents. <br /> <br />Team could be com.prised of City staff. policy makers, local citizens. or consultants (ensure no confliCT of <br />ifl1eresr) <br /> <br />2\ <br />
