Figure _ <br />represents an approach used to guide future development in Ramsey, the Land Use Plan. It <br />mandates land uses through the year 2020. It is driven by a partnership of Ramsey residents, <br />landowners, city officials and business owners. Prospective homeowners, business owners and <br />entrepreneurs will use the plan to help make location.. purchasing and marketing decisions. <br />Students, prospective residents and researchers will use it to learn about the community. But <br />more importantly it will be used to assist and guide local decision-makers and city staff in the <br />everyday business demanded of a growing suburban community. <br /> <br />The future land use element guides the conununity in accomplishing its collective vision. The <br />future land use element is comprised of goals and polices for the following major land use <br />categories: <br /> <br />Pkues to Live <br />Places to live include lands with \U'ban services (urban) and without (rural). It includes a broad <br />range of housing types, styles, price ranges and densities. The following categories represent <br />areas of places to live: <br /> <br />Permanent Rural. .. without urban services (2 areas) <br />· Rural Developing-the area between the urban services boundary and the rural preserve area <br />· Rural Preserve-the area generally north of Trott Brook that does not have a predominant <br />development pattern already established. <br /> <br />Urban Residential (4 areas) <br />· Mixed Residential-residential land located within the MUSA intended to receive a variety of <br />housing styl~s including single family attached and detached housing, townhouses, <br />condominiums and two-family homes. <br />· Medium Density Residential-intended to ensure areas of development available for <br />townhouses, duplexes, triplexes or quadhomes. <br />· High Density Residential-intended to ensure areas of development available for high- <br />density multi-family apartment housing. <br />· Transition Residential-intended to provide a development transition between existing rural <br />residential development and future urban residential development. <br /> <br />Places to Work <br />Places to work include areas primarily reserved for office and industrial type development. <br /> <br />Places to Shop <br />Places to shop include a range of neighborhood and community conunerciallretail development. <br /> <br />Town Center <br />Town Center includes a mix of land uses such as civic, commercial, office and residential uses. It <br />is the focal point for the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Parb. Trails and O"en Space <br />Parks, trails and open space includes the City Park and trail system, regional parks, wetlands and <br />[he greenway.
