We understand that the Commission approved an amendment to the draft Comprehensi ve Plan ro provIde that wIth an approved PUD, land developed for high density residential uses may include hmlted commercial development. Thus, subject to obtaimng approval of a PUD plan, a developer of the Katnis property could include some commerc1al uses along with lugh density res1dential development. The Commission did not discuss implementation, but it seems to us that matters ofthe size, location and type of commercial use would be worked OUt durmg the PUD application and approval process. We acknowledge that the Commission recommendation is not an approval ofrhe concept plan we delivered to you on March 16. We do beh~e rhat under the Commission's recommendation the City could legally approve such a plan as a PUD. There would not be an automatic conflict with the ComprehenSIve Plan recommendation of high density residential development for the property. Please let me know immedIately if! have not accurately described the Commission's action. Our letter of March 16 is pan of the official record to forward to the CounCIl. The Katms family suppons the amendm~uo the draft Comprehensive Plan.
