In order to gain understanding of the perspectives of the community members at <br />large, informal surveys were conducted with Ramsey area residents outside a local <br />grocery store during October, 1996. Sixty people were surveyed about their preferences <br />for types of trail uses in Ramsey. Respondents were asked to indicate which uses they <br />would like to see in Ramsey Parks. <br /> <br />Table 6. The people living within three miles of the park did not want to see hunting and <br />snowmobiles. The reasons stated were fear of noise, "undesirable types of people," and <br />lowered property values. <br /> <br />Anoka High School survey <br /> <br />A written survey was conducted by a group of Anoka High School Students in <br />December, 1995, as part oftheir community service efforts. A total of 504 surveys were <br />received. The questions examined residents' visions for community growth, business <br />development, retail activities, recreational facilities, recreational trails, how to spend city <br />resources, and demographic data about the respondents. The respondents were grouped <br />according to park district. In Trott Brook, the return rate was 39%. This report contains <br /> <br />16 <br />
