Mayor Gamec explained the City must also pay interest on the money; everyone is assessed by <br />policy. <br />City Engineer Jankowski explained Mr. Thelen could choose to pay it off over a 10 -year period <br />and that it would be part of his County taxes. <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to close the public <br />hearing. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, Olson, and <br />Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. <br />The public hearing was closed at 7:35 p.m. <br />Council Business <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:35 p.m. <br />Councilmember Elvig commented he is interested in moving quickly because if it goes through <br />the bid process again, the cost will be higher. <br />Councilmember Cook said he does not want to see it go into next year's construction timeline. <br />Mayor Gamec stated if some of these streets were not done soon, most of them would become <br />total reconstruction. <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to adopt Resolutions 06- <br />08 -251 B through 06-08-251H levying special assessments for Improvement Projects 06 -04, 06- <br />05, 06 -06, 06 -07, 06 -08, 06 -09, and 06 -11 Bituminous Overlays of City Streets. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey, Cook, Olson, and <br />Pearson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to award the project to <br />the lowest bidder after a waiting period of 30 days. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Olson, Elvig, Jeffrey, and <br />Pearson. Voting No: None.
