Generally, public art is art visited by the <br /> public-at-large. <br /> Elected official <br /> This elected official from Community B recently completed a 4-year term as a City <br /> Council member. Previously, he served as Mayor for the city from 2005-2014. In his position <br /> on the council, he oversees budgets for the community that includes authorizing and promoting <br /> public art programs. He is in the 60+age bracket, has a Bachelor's degree in Electronic <br /> Technology, and has lived in the community since 1983. His definition of public is that it <br /> primarily includes local residents and includes visitors and local business owners. He views the <br /> local residents as the top priority, followed by local businesses and visitors. Public art is art that <br /> is accessible and viewable. It includes sculpture, paintings, landscaping and other works of art. <br /> They include art that is on public property, or art that is on private property, that is viewable by <br /> the public. <br /> City Staff/Arts Administrators <br /> This Community B respondent is the Executive Director for the community's Center for <br /> the Arts and a practicing artist. In her position, she facilitates everything at the Art Center, <br /> provides leadership, and oversees day-to-day operations and programming. The Art Center is <br /> not heavily involved in public art projects as such, but organizes many public programming and <br /> community events. She is in the 45-59 age bracket. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in <br /> Printmaking and a Masters of Fine Arts in special arts, and has held her current position for five <br /> years. She lives in a neighboring community approximately fifty miles away. Her definition of <br /> public includes the community-at-large. The public includes youth, seniors, tourists, and other <br /> 87 <br />
