Councilmember Zimmerman aye <br />Councilmember Hendriksen aye <br />Councilmember Anderson aye <br />Councilmember Kurak aye <br />Mayor Gamec aye <br />' Motion carried. <br />Case #9: Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding Contract for Improvement Project <br />' #01 -18, Building Demolition <br />City Engineer Olson stated that Tax Increment Financing District No. 8 was created in December <br />2000, The City of Ramsey has bonded to construct public improvements within the boundaries <br />of this TIF District. The City of Ramsey has agreed to provide City utilities to T & G Land, Inc. <br />' by July of 2001. In order to satisfy this commitment, construction of 141" Avenue must <br />commence as soon as possible. In order for construction to commence, the concrete building <br />located on the south boundary of the old L.W. Makens property must be demolished. Kenko, <br />Inc. has verbally agreed to vacate the building by April 1, 2001, and move its equipment to the <br />southern portion of Lot 2, Block 1, Gateway North Industrial Park No. 5. Plans and <br />specifications for the demolition have been completed by Hakanson Anderson and Braun Intertec <br />' has performed an asbestos hazardous abatement survey. Notice had been published ten days <br />prior to accepting bids. Bids have been received and opened on March 26, 2001. A total of five <br />' bids were received. The bids ranged from $43,200 to $78,375. Staff recommended that the <br />project be awarded to Wickenhauser Excavating in the amount of $43,200.00. <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if staff was relatively sure that all the bidders understood <br />what they were bidding on since there is such a large variation in the bid amount. <br />City Engineer Olson explained that staff held a conference on the site with the bidders and toured <br />the building. <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to adopt <br />Resolution #01 -03 -167 receiving bids and awarding contract for improvement project #01 -18, <br />Building Demolition. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br />City Council/March 27, 2001 <br />Page 19 of 22 <br />-37- <br />
