Keep in mind that this <br />public hearing was on the airport master plan; the recorrmendation fran the <br />Airport O:mnission to City Council will regard whether or not to ado};4: this <br />airport master plan. Council then will make a decision to adopt the plan, as a <br />plan; not to start oonstruction. If the plan is ado};4:ed and all subsequent <br />J;ilases of the plan went like clockwork, the earliest ClOnstruction ClOuld begin <br />would be 1989. <br /> <br />Sharon Mager - How long before the plan goes to Council for adoption? <br /> <br />Chairman lppel - I really don't know but I ho~ the Airport CoIIInission's <br />recorrmendation would be on the next regular Council agenda; Council will want <br />time to review it and ooubt th~ will act on it until October or Novanber. <br /> <br />Comnissioner Donovan - 'lhanked citizens for attending this hearing and raising <br />important questions. Regarding someone's earlier cxmnent regarding 'too bad it <br />has gone this far', the citizens should be thankful that it has gone this far. <br />Important questions have been raised and we 00 not have the answers to sane of <br />these questions, i.e., being com~nsa.ted for rot being able to subdivide. I <br />was ~ssimistic to an airport but in the last two year process, IIy ~ssimistic <br />attitude has changed. I will try to look at the big picture and the benefits <br />to Ramsey. I live in the northeast pirt of Ramsey and realize that to most of <br />the citizens present the big picture is right outside their windows; I have no <br />formula for weighing citizen input but I will certainly take it into <br />ClOnsideration. <br /> <br />CCmnissioner Stauffer - Live close to the runwcw and aware of ION flying <br />planes. I am very impressed with sane of the people that have approached this <br />ColImission at previous meetings, like SIlall rosiness owners for instance, and <br />the information I have gained fran than. In regards to an earlier comnent made <br />regarding wlw develop an airport that can't be expanded, I can live with the <br />present size airplanes being accarmodated at Gat:ewcw; I would be very ham <br />with an airport that cannot be expanded. <br /> <br />ColImissioner Greenberg - I agreed to serve on. this C'armission because of IIy <br />close involvanent with the airport since it's inception. I will abstain fran <br />voting on the reccmnendation because I am so involved with the airport. <br /> <br />ColImissioner Larsen - I agreed to serve on the ColImission because of IIy broad <br />experience in project management and Il'!Y interest in what's best for Ramsey. <br />Since being appointed to the Ccmnission I moved fran Ramsey and offered Il'!Y <br />resignation. IV resignation was not accepted because it was felt that Il'!Y <br />expertise would remain useful to the CoIIInission; I agreed to ranain on the <br />Comnission. 'll1,ere is a tough decision before us now and more to come. <br /> <br />ColImissioner Erickson - 'll1,e tough decisions are yet to come. I am a resident <br />of Ramsey and an airport pirticipmt. Our decision cannot be based strictly on <br />a useage tasis; it has to be a benefit to Ramsey, otherwise it OOes not benefit <br />the majority. 'lhis Comnission has to take the opposition into ClOnsideration <br />and weight that against the overall benefit.
