.

.

.

Resident - How lllaIW banes actually will be bought out?

Mr. Otto ~ Passed around copies of a reduced version of the airport layout
plan.

Resident - Will the special Airport Meeting in Septemer be open to the public?

Chaiman Ippel - All Council and Camnission meetings are open to the public.
Any citizen can approach Council or Commissions during the Citizen Input
portion of their meetings; all regular meeting dates are listed on City Hall's
front door, Qible Channel 10 and Tri-Cit:Y NeNsletter. '!here are no excuses for
not knowing what is going on in the City.. As a Ccmnission, it has been very
disappointing to oonduct meetings and the citizens have not been interested
enough to attend the meetings. '!he Tri-City Newsletter also contains condensed
Council and CoImlission minutes; the information is there if the ~ople want to
avail thansel ves of it.

Jim Kuns - 7261 152nd Ave RIl - I am one of the gull ty citizens, as far as
getting involved in City issues. '!he last meeting I attended was the landfill
hearing at Ramsey Elementary. '!he citizens have only themselves to blame for
letting this issue get as far as it has. If we want to fight this airp:>rt, we
will all have to attend meetings; it may be too late but we all have to comnit
ourselves to letting the City know whatever we feel about the airport. I think
there is a better w8!:l to bring eoonanic developnent to the City rather than
with an airport. If an airport is a beautiful plllrl, wlw aren't cities lined up
begging for airports.

Mr. Merland Otto - Rush City, Princeton, St. James, NeN Ulm and Dodge Center
all have something in amoon: ThE!{ realized that th~ could not maintain
status quo and each of these cities made a decision to pursue additional
business in their C01IIIIunity and part of that pursuit has been in imprwing
their airports. Ramsey's is not an isolated case.

D:t.ve <l1apnan - 16042 Ramsey Blvd. - I think the members of the Airport
Camlission are a good representation of Ramsey's citizens; I believe thE!{ have
good judgement and I will abide ~ their recanmendation and decision. I have
lived in Ramsey 15 years and you must realize the progress cannot be stopped.
Progress will happen whether you like it or not and that progress might as well
be develo~ ~ us rather than having Metro Council get involved. I think the
airport would be of great benefit to the C01IIIIunit:Y. I came to this decision 4
years ago whey BY CXl1\p:lIW ran an ad for a secretary and a bookkeeper; received
125 calls in response to the ad.

Rita Skold - 15410 Marmoset - Neither ny husband nor nyself want to see this
airport go through. We want Ramsey to expand but we think there is a better
way than with an aiq:ort. '!here are cxmnunities growing without airports.

'!he Conmission set a special meeting date of Tuesday, September 3 at 7: 30 p.m.
at Cit:Y Hall.

Sharon Mager - Will the Airport Carmission be making their recarmendation at
that special meeting.

August 21, 1985
