.

.

.

Sharon Mager - If Gateway becomes publicly owned, can Metro Council claim it
and do with it as they please?

Mr. Otto - Gateway is not proposed to be owned the the Metro Airports
Camnission; it would be municip:llly owned. Because it is currently privately
owned, it cannot withstand econallic pressures and accamnodate aviation 20 years
fran llOW. After it is publicly owned, it can be there 20 years fran now. Anoka
airport is part of the MAC system; initially,. it was not and don't know the
specific history of that airport.

Sharon Mager - 7260 152nd Lane lfi - Regarding being eligible for AlP funds _
first application must be made and then it raJuires approval.

Mr. Otto - Correct. It is one thing to be eligible and another thing to be
high enough on the priority list. If Gateway is developed, it is critical that
AIP funds be obtained. Another hurdle to overcome is getting Gateway included
in the National Systems Plan.

Sharon Mager - Live on the flight pattern and noise is a nuisance and increased
air traffic will increase that noise nuisance; this nuisance will result in
decreased property values. CMners of property in clear zones will be bought
out but the rest of the residents in the vicinity will have to live with it.

Ron Peterka - 7561 l52nd Lane NY - WIv is the airport layout plan that includes
acquisition of 14 banes and 2 coumercial businesses considered to be the most
feasible?

Mr. Otto - Feasible may not have been the correct use of terms; it is
desireable to orient the runway in a way that would take advantage of the most
wind coverage. Pre.railing winds in this area call for an cast:,.' ~ runway. 5 . 85'
~ \ ......."'7S~. .:;A "\-

Ron Peterka - What are Metro Council's estimates for future based aircraft at
Gateway?

Mr. Otto - Metro Council has not figures for Gateway in particular. Metro
Council has a system plan for the entire 7 COunty Metro area; their forecast is
for 3,000 - 3,500 based aircraft in the region and they do not allocate that
forecast to allY of the private airports. Metro Council is currently in the
process of UPdating their system plan. 1he estimates in this airport master
study are on the high side which is a better situation when considering the
project fran an enviromental impact standpoint.

Ron Peterka - What impact will airport developnent have on area wildlife?

Mr. Otto - '!here is nothing in ~deral or State records to indicate that there
is allY water fad management areas in the vicinity of the airport; there are
sane wetlands there that will be looked at during the Enviromental Assessnent
process if the study proceeds that far.

Vic Bunes - 7101 l49th Lane lfi - Regarding landfills and airports being
incompatible, what is the projected life of the landfill is the airport
developnent is awroved?

AUgust 21, 1985
