Reconstruct Near Term
Reconstruct Mid -Term
Exterior lighting must be upgraded as the
site will no longer have the visibility it
currently does (possible lighting fixtures on
building)
Upgrade exterior lighting to include
additional lighting around perimeter of site;
this would include the current police
building as well.
Repairs to service doors to eliminate heat
loss on current apparatus bay
Repairs to service doors to eliminate heat
loss on current apparatus bay
Some weather proofing (caulking) to
prevent further water issues
More extensive weather proofing (ex
caulking) at known locations of water
problems, including roof leaks in apparatus
bay.
Possible security fencing, install as needed
Re -do elements of gutter system to better
the movement of water away from the
building during rain events.
"Boarding off" some non -use areas of
current building
Review leaks that can be corrected by tuck -
pointing and correct as necessary.
"Boarding up" windows and doors if
vandalism present
Have 2 existing exterior walls cleaned to
remove efflorescence and mold and algae
growth, in conjunction with repairing water
issues.
Revising HVAC system to limit use in un-
used areas.
Paint exterior of service and overhead
doors.
Repaint all bollards
Remove and re -caulk control joints at
perimeter of apparatus bay brick veneer.
Revising HVAC system to limit use in un-
used areas.
"Boarding off" some non -use areas of
current building
"Boarding up" windows and doors to
prevent vandalism
Within both options is the planned use of all/part of the current police building. The Fire Chief
feels it is an acceptable option to stage lower priority equipment within the current police garage.
Examples would be: Grass fire truck, Rescue boat, SCBA trailer and FD grill.
Other issues to be addressed are:
• Irrigation system; reduce to only irrigate a smaller area that will be maintained by public
works
• Transfer flagpole to a location near fire /current police station
• Reduce /abandon all or part of the upper level parking lot
• Decisions on how much "altering" of the interior of buildings should happen and what
funding source is used. Some safety /ventilation issues remain in current apparatus
bay /office configuration. Corrective action would depend on which option is decided on.
