The
things that defmed the charactero~the ~uimunity in the 1990's are now only distant memories to
those remaiJUng residents who have exc~Uent recall.
, '

Actually, the population has changfda lqt over the past 15.to 20-yea,rs. We were able to blend compatible urban and
rural development so they are comtlettl~tary not conflicting. We are a together community.

One of the strengths of Ramsey is fie w~y ,natural features, have been preserved and integrated ,into
the built environment and as eletncfp~ o~ tb.e park system, ,providing interconnected wild life areas
that themselves are connected by t:fails. We are proud of ,the way the image of Highway 10 has
improved over the past several years.. We are pleased witb. the appearance of our City.

Although major transportationcofnc:i011l are safer 8lld handle more traffic, than in the 1990's,
traffic, continues to be a probl+ . primarily because we, and the residents of neighboring
communities, drive more than we~did ~tb.e 1990's... On-the-other-hand, traffic conflicts within
neighborhoods have improved andl~it promises toi'educe auto travel demand in the future.

Ramsey ha~,an excellent parksys~that ~erves residents of all ages. Even the landfill was made
a productive part of the City's parklsysteJ:n.

While Ramsey offers a substanti;Jl pwfiber of jobs and ',employers, it still remains more of a
bedroom community with enou~h jc~ercial development to satisfy the needs of residents and
the traveling public on HighwaylQ. '

Ramsey is a healthy communitywt~go,d services,' a cOnnected community, a community with a
good image; a community wherep.ople.tan live tlleirwhO'le lives, a community that respects and
cares for its ,natural resources, and . co~unity that. has a teal sense' of place.

2001 Ramsey Com1?rehensive Plan

Page II-l
