Canmissioner lppel stated that the City has always <br />op!x>seo the landfill and to sellout to vertical expansion for a ski hill <br />is not snart. <br /> <br /><X:Mr-"tiSSIOO BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case f.l: Request For City Participation (Tax Increment Financing) In <br />PrQposed Project~ Case O! Atl~ Incinerators. Inc.: <br /> <br />Robert Labat, President of Atlas Incinerators, was present and stated that <br />the firm is proposir.g to relocate it' s corporate office, factory and. <br />research and developnent facility in Ramsey. The corporate office will <br />consist of 9600 square feet; the factory will be 26,000-30,000 square feet; <br />28,000 square feet is proposed for the research and service facility. A <br />small portion of the research facility (7~ of the entire complex) includes <br />contract burn which is used to help generate revenue for the entire complex <br />and serve as a working display to show prospective customers. Atlas is <br />proposing to Oevelop_the facility on a 16.76 acre ~rcel at Cty. Rd. fil16 <br />and Sunfish LaKe BlvO; the firm has an option on another 7 acre parcel <br />which can be used to accommodate future expansion or-to encourage <br />complimentary manufactUrers to locate nearby. . <br /> <br />Mr. Labat explained that current com~ny sales are at 3 million and that is <br />expecteO to increase to 25 million in 1992. The company currently employs <br />39. and that is expected to increase to 125 in 1992. If the company goes to <br />24 hour a day operation, employment will increase to 150-160 in 1992. <br /> <br />~.r. Labat stateO that Atlas stock coule go public, but placement of the <br />stock woulc be in private institutions; current owners of the company <br />inteno to keep control of the COIi'?CffiY at all times. <br /> <br />Mr. Labat stateo that the projected costs for the new facility are 3.1 to. <br />3.5 .million; . Atlas would like to keep their budget at 3.1 million; the more <br />creative financing that can be found, the larger the facility can be built <br />fran the start. This Cormnission' s recormnendation to City Council regarding <br />the amount of tax increment participation will affect the size of this <br />project. <br /> <br />Camrr~ssioner Fults inguireQ if any consideration hac been given to using <br />the' methane gas available in the area. <br /> <br />~..r .
