<br />Val Carver, engineer for Atlas, stated that it is }X>ssible a manufacturer <br />of prefabricated steel items would locate in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Canmissioner Ippel inquired \;t:f"Atlas hasconsiciered. utilizing the serv ices <br />of industry already located in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Carver stated that he is very interested in the products currently <br />manufactured in Ramsey. Mr. Carver stated that- it is Atlas' policy to <br />utilize the services and products of local businesses becaUSE: the close <br />proximity of the manufacturer is a real benefit. <br /> <br />Cormnissioner Kurak asked for an explanation of the tank farm. <br /> <br />Mr. Carver. replied that there are 10 tanks in the tank farm; the tanks are <br />surrounded by concrete dikes and a sump area. '!he tanks are used to store <br />fuel to power the incinerators and liquid wastes for test burning. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kurak inquired if the company would stand up to financial <br />pressure to burn materials.~t pollute. <br /> <br />Mr. Labat replied that it is important_to Atlas to operate within Federal, <br />~ate and local laws; Atlas is also not suPject to financial pressure. <br /> <br />Commissfoner Wagner inquired if- Atlas has contacted it's potential <br />neighbors. <br /> <br />Mr. Labat stated that a letter is being sent to neighboring properties fran <br />Atlas. Atlas is willing to meet \o.1itb any of them to answer questions. <br />Atlas is also planning a informationcl meeting later in tI.ay to meet with <br />the general public to answer questions. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wagner expressed concern with con'traee. bum becoming the major <br />portion of the company. <br /> <br />Val Carver stated that the conditional use permit request is to burn a <br />. maximum of 38 tons per day, which can be accomplishe6 with 2 incinerators; <br />that is all Atlas requires and requests; Atlas has no intention of <br />. extendiric that pennit. <br />- . - <br /> <br />Mr. Labat statec that Atlas is in the business of manufacturing <br />incinerators for custaners to purchase to 60 their own burning. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris stated that the projections for this project indicate that there <br />is sufficient increment to support a $500,000 investment by the City in the <br />project. <br /> <br />Motion by Corr~issioner Ippel ana seconoed by Commissioner Fults to <br />recommend that City Council approve Atlas Incinerator's request for <br />participation in their proposec project at the maximum amount allOVled unDer <br />tax increment guioelines. <br /> <br />tviotion carrieCl.
