Bernie Vevea <br /> <br />Also Present: Community Developnent Director Anne Norris <br /> <br />Members Absent: Mr. Bob Muller <br />ftu:. Ken Wagner <br />Mr. Glen Hardin <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg called the special Economic Development Commission <br />meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPlJr <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as sut:mitted and discuss the items even <br />though there was not a quorum. <br /> <br />CC>>1MISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />():l~e *1: Request For Tax Increment FinaT'lcino ParticipationB.y City: <br />Case Of t.rr. Rick Foster And r'll'. Duke Carlson: <br /> <br />Mr. Rick Foster and Mr. Duke Carlson were present to review their proposal <br />to construct an apartment building south of the Food In I Fuel with some tax <br />incr-ement financing assistance. <br /> <br />The Camrr~ssioners discussed using tax increment financing for an apartment <br />proj ect and asked whether other ci ti es had done this. Anne Nor r is said <br />that she had asked Ron Batty, Bond Counsel, if he had worked on any tax <br />increment projects for apartments; Mr. Batty stated that other cities such <br />as Minnetonka, Lauderdale, Crystal, New Brighton and Richfield have used tax <br />increment financing for apartment projects. <br /> <br />Economic Development Cornrnission/~~rch 1,1988 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />Jb <br />
