City of Ramsey

15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 · (612) 427.1410

March 14, 1988

The Honorable Greg Dahl
~Jnnesota State Senate
Roan 111, state Capitol
St. Paul, MN 55155

Dear Senator Dahl:

The business community in the City of Ramsey has campaigned for
~~ars for industrial and commercial property tax relief. We are
pleased that this issue is finally being addressed by the State
legislature.

The Ramsey Economic Development Commission believes that property
tax reform must be top priority for any monies that might be
available in the State budget. We believe that commercial and
industrial property tax relief will do more for industrial growth
in Minnesota than the Greater Minnesota Corporation should
funding for both be i.rrp:>ssible.

One issue that deserves special attention by the legislature is
the need for tax abatement or delay on industrial and commercial
land that is improved and held until a user is found. The high
property taxes on improved industrial land hinders orderly
developnent. .

Thank you for your consideration of these comments. Please do
not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information on
these matters.

Yours truly,

RAMSEY ECX)N(ro:C DEVELOPI-a--r roMMISSION

~'Z {j/<dUf /;-bf-l '
~Gree~rg - vi /.vJ,~
Chai man i/ ,"

~;
.:~;

00:

I~
