<br />without hangar development and benefits to the community. <br /> <br />-J <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel noted that Council has scheduled a special election on the <br />Airport Safety Zoning Ordinance for April 19. 1988. He suggested that <br />completion of the environmental assessment draft be targeted so that the <br />public hearing can be held at the regular Airport Commission meeting on <br />March 9 and the results of the hearing published in the March Ramsey <br />Resident. This schedule would insure getting as much information as <br />possible to the public prior to the April 19 election date. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel noted that it is vital to get the facts to the public <br />regarding airport safety zoning prior to the election on April 19. Ms. <br />Norris has indicated that there is a firm by the name of Decision Resources <br />Limited that specializes in public information/public relations issues <br />pertaining to referendums. <br /> <br />Commissioner Donovan stated that Council action to this point indicates <br />they are in favor of the airport project and as the election draws near it <br />is absolutely necessary for Council to confirm that support. <br /> <br />Commission consensus was to obtain some cost estimates from Decision <br />Resources Limited for assistance on the Airport Safety Zoning referendum. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AIRPORT COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Donovan and seconded by Commissioner Emery to <br />approve regular Airport Commission meeting minutes dated November 12. 1987 <br />with the following corrections: <br /> <br />~) <br /> <br />Page 5 - 9th paragraph - change the 1st and 2nd sentences to read as <br />follows: 'A discussion ensued regarding rumors that DC-3's and jets <br />will be landing at Gateway. Commissioner Barnes stated that DC-3's. <br />which are not jets. can land at Gateway now but they don't because the <br />soft runway surface damages aircraft.' <br /> <br />Page 2 - 4th paragraph - the last sentence should reas as follows: <br />'The 3300 foot runway is the minimum required for FAA participation <br />and would accommodate 90% of general aviation aircraft (single engine <br />and light twin engine).' <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Ippel. Commissioners Donovan. Emery. <br />Barnes and Greenberg. Voting No: None.
