Mr. LeTourneau inquired if there is <br />any alternative to meet code and not spend $50,000 on a sprinkler <br />system. <br /> <br />Council directed staff to research if there are prov1S~ons for waiving the <br />sprinkler system requirement and if not, if there is a time frame allowed <br />for compliance with the requirement. <br /> <br />Mr. Erickson stated he has done a lot of research and the alternative he <br />suggested (installing a system ,,'ith a fire department outlet and connected <br />to the on-site well and later installation of pressure tank) is still <br />putting his certification on the line. Mr. Erickson stated that he is <br />willing to get tbe State involvement in this case but tben he can't <br />guarantee his alternative system will still bean option. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich stat~d that staff will do the research and if there is a <br />waiver provision or alternate approach, a special meeting >of City Counc.il <br />will be called; if there are no provisions t~ relieve the requirement, <br />Council will take no further action until December 8. In the interim, Mr. <br />LeTourneau should proceed with his project assuming a sprinkler system will <br />be required. <br /> <br />Mr. LeTourneau requested tbat staff also researcb whether or not the <br />building can be open for public use until the system is installed; noted he <br />intends to utilize the remodelled portion of tbe building in the next week. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich advised Mr. LeTourneau to check ~ith city staff before <br />utilizing the remodelled portion of the building. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca requested that Mr. LeTourneau check ~itb his insurance <br />company to determine the amount of premium savings because of a sprinkler <br />system being inst~llerl. <br /> <br />Case ~15: Establish~ent O~ Ncve=ber As E~ile?sv Mcntb= <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Gouncilmember Pearson to <br />declare November as Epilepsy Month. <br /> <br />Motion carriec.
