Background: <br />Council Action: <br />CC: 11 /14/06 <br />Credit Card Policy <br />By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br />Consent: 10 <br />The City adopted a general credit card policy in 2004. Attached is a more formal policy <br />which strictly reduces the use of credit cards. According to this policy, credit card use for <br />purchases other than gasoline will be restricted to department head use only for items that <br />are not able to be purchased via check. For example, booking of flights and hotel rooms <br />for out -of- state /metro area training/seminars. <br />Cities are required to adopt a credit card policy, and if one is not in place, a finding is <br />recorded as part of its yearly audit. A copy of the State Auditors position on credit card <br />use is attached. <br />The attached policy will replace the current policy which basically stated that the City <br />was issued a credit card and was allowed to use it for necessary purchases. <br />Adopt City policy outlining the terms and conditions for the usage of the City's credit <br />card(s). <br />
