• Background: AWARD BIDS FOR THE REMOVAL OF CONTAMINATED SOILS ON THE ST PAUL TERMINALS PROPERTY By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer This project consists of the excavation, hauling, and disposal of approximately 4,400 cubic yards of contaminated soil for this 1.5 acre industrial property which is located at 14050 Basalt Street. This site was acquired by the city from St. Paul Terminals for redevelopment purposes and was occupied for many years by Danny's Tranny's. This project will allow for the redevelopment of this commercial / industrial property. The project has been estimated to cost $215,000 and will be funded from Tax Increment Financing District No. 2 and through a grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in the amount of $295,000. On Wednesday November 8, 2006 bids for this project were received from seven contractors. A summary of the bids received is presented below: Bidder Bid Team Earthworks Inc. $177,672.00 Veit Company $193,342.00 North Pines Aggregate $203,724.00 Belair Excavating $218,400.00 Rachel Contracting $219,131.00 Landwehr Construction $221,980.00 Meyer Contracting $257,962.00 The low bidder is Team Earthworks Inc. with a bid in the amount of $177,672.00. A letter of recommendation from ProSource Inc the consultant which assisted in the preparation of the contract documents for this project will be presented at the meeting. Recommendation: Staff recommends adopting resolution 06- 11 -XXX for Improvement Project 06 -33, awarding a contract for the Removal of Contaminated Soils on the St. Paul Terminals Property, to Team Earthworks Inc. in the bid amount of $177,672.00.
