Parent <br />Company for a variance from Section 170.076.24 of the City Code regarding <br />setback from the Rum River. (Please refer to findings of fact file for <br />Findings of Fact 0178.) <br /> <br />Further discussion: Chairman Zimmerman noted that he is opposed to <br />granting a varianced of this magnitude. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Chairman Zimmerman, Commissioners Howell, <br />Shumway, Hendriksen, and LaDue. Voting no: None. Absent: Commissioner <br />Holm. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Howell and seconded by Commissioner Hendriksen to <br />table a request for a variance by A. J. Parent Company pending revision of <br />house plans. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Commissioner Hendriksen noted that Mr. Parent may want <br />an indication from the Board regarding the chances for a variance if the <br />house and garage are redesigned. The Board agreed that the design and <br />angle of the garage are creating a problem and the need for an excessive <br />encroachment on the Rum River setback. Mr. Parent asked for the Board's <br />comments if the garage were aligned with the house. The Board reviewed the <br />design of the house and the garage and suggested that the house be moved <br />forward and may even encroach slightly on the front yard setback. <br />Commissioner LaDue commented that the house and garage should be aligned <br />with the structures on adjacent properties. The Board commented that it <br />would be receptive to a variance if the structure were aligned with <br />structures on adjacent properties and if it could meet the front yard <br />setback. Mr. Parent noted that he believed the proposed design of the <br />house and garage would add to the neighborhood. (Note: At this point, <br />Commissioner Howell left the meeting.) Mr. Parent requested whether the <br />Board could deal with the realignment of the house and garage tonight if he <br />Board of Adjustment/August 27,1987 <br /> <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
