<br /> <br />PROCEEDINGS OF CITY mUNCll. <br />BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA CDUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A Board of Adj ustment was held on Tuesday, June 25, 1985 at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Na-lthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Mirmesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Chairperson Jean Schlueter <br />Mayor Gary Heitman <br />Councilmanber Arnie Cox <br />Councilmanber Gary Reimarm <br />Councilmanber AI Sorteberg <br /> <br />Also Present: City Mninistrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />Director of Technical Services Clayton Berg <br />Ci ty Attorney William Goodrich <br />Ci ty Engineer Peter Raatikka <br />City Plarmer Anne Norris <br />Chief Accountant Jearme Haapala <br />RefX)rter Angela Flint <br /> <br />CALL it) ORDER <br />. Chairperson Schlueter called the Board of Adjustment to order at 9:46 p.m. <br />BUSINESS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />(".a~P- il: Reqpest &Y K'lWN-FM. InCa For A Variance From Maximum Height <br />Allowance: <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman irxauired if there is a time constraint that ImiN is operating <br />under and what the consequences would be if K'lWN does not get the new height. <br /> <br />Mr. 'lborpe replied that the new FCC ra;Iuirements for Class C licensing must be <br />complied with by March of 1986; K'lWN would lose it's Class C license if the 300 <br />meter height ra;Iuirement is not fulfilled. <br /> <br />Mr. Fries stated that K'lWN would remain a radio station, but the <br />declassification would take (May it's ability to be canpetitive in the market <br />place. <br /> <br />Mr. 'lborpe stated that the '!Win Cities has been given 12 Class C licenses; <br />there carmot l:e aJ:WIOOre fra;Iuencies that that. 'lbose 12 stations are in <br />operation today; 10 of them do not meet the miniml1ll height ra;Iuiranents. Fran <br />a J;hiloso};ilical level, those 12 radio stations represent a limited natural <br />resource. If K'lWN is downgraded, other radio stations that do not serve this <br />market area, could encroach on K'lWN further serving the metro area because ImiN <br />would be locked into a lesser grade signal.
