Ms. Carter stated that the land was not farmed one year-- last year. She
stated that she will get the farmer to call in at city hall and verify that.

.

Motion by Councilmember Retmann authorizing the City Assessor reclassify the
land agricultural if it is determined that it has been farmedi if not, the
classification shall remain the same.

Further Discussion: Mr. Thurston stated that the 1984 assessment is based on
1983 activity and right now classifying.it as residential is correct because
Ms. Carter has admitted that the land was not farmed in 1983.

Motion failed for lack of a second.

Case #9: Jim Acers - 8600 176th Ave. N.W. - PIN R05-32-25-32-0008:

Mr. Acers requested a continuance.of the Board of Review in order to prepare
a presentation regarding the continued rise in market valuation and property
taxes.

Mayor Gamec stated that Mr. Thurston and Mr. Leon of the County should be
present for that presentation. The County Commissioner and Representative
Ernie Larson should also be invited.

Mr. Thurston stated that if Mr. Acers' request is to be treated as a Board
of Review continuance, it must be held within 20 calendar days.

Council consensus was to set the Board of Review continuance for June 5,
1984 at Ramsey City Hall.

.

Case #10: Rick Sundahl - 16169 Jarvis - PIN R18-32-25-23-0005:

Mr. Sundahl stated he bought this 100 year old farmhouse in 1981 for $26,900
and since then he has added 200 square feet to the home. Our 1984
estimated market value is $67,200.

Mr. Wirz pointed out that the property is valued at $14,236 - 5~ acres.

Mr. Sundahl stated that the 1983 value was $51,900 and inquired if $15,000
is a normal increase amount.

Mr. wirz stated that the increase is due to the addition on the home being
completed.

Mr. Thurston stated he would mail Mr. Sundahl a County review request form.

Mr. Sundahl inquired as to how he could get on the City's mailing listithat
he never receives notification of community events.

Mr. Wirz replied that the City has been trying to compile an accurate mailing
list but has not had much success.

Mr. wirz stated he would also check to see if Mr. Sundahl is entitled to
more than a l5% depreciation on his overall package.

.

MAYOR!COUNCLL'INPUT

Motion byCouncilmember SQrteberg and seconded by Councilmember Van Wagner to

BoR/May 2l, J9 84
