<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CASE #7: <br /> <br />INFORMATION ITEMS <br /> <br />1) In its budgeting process, the City Council approved up to $50,000 <br />from the Landfill Trust Fund to be used for economic development <br />activities. Councilmember Cox noted that he would prefer to see this <br />money used for a revolving loan fund. In addition, the Council approved <br />a development intern position for economic development activities. The <br />Council also approved the use of CDBG funds for as many economic <br />development activities that qualify, including activities related to the <br />Star City Program. <br /> <br />2) On October 28, 1986, the City Council gave concept approval to City <br />participation in an incubator facility proposed by the Iron Works <br />Development Corporation. City Staff is drafting a development agreement <br />for this project. <br /> <br />3) On October 28, 1986, the City Council tabled creating an Ad Hoc <br />Committee to review water problems in the City until there is more interest <br />in such a committee. The Council received one letter of interest in <br />serving on such a committee. <br /> <br />4) On October 28, 1986, the City Council adopted Ordinance #86-8 <br />establishing a Landfill Commission to advise the City Council on landfill <br />related concerns and activities. In addition, the Council directed that an <br />ad for persons interested in serving on this Commission be published in the <br />next Ramsey Resident. <br /> <br />5) As you may know, Elk River participated in the Governor's Design Team <br />program to review local issues. Through this program and after a detailed <br />application process, experts in architecture, planning, land use, etc. will <br />come out to a community to review specific issues in that community. The <br />issues addressed in Elk River included relocating City Hall, reviewing and <br />improving land uses at the City's entrances, improving capitalization on <br />rivers in the City, and downtown redevelopment. <br /> <br />~ <br />
