Commissioner Ippel <br />explained that most promotional tapes are ten minutes or less in duration. <br />Commissioner Ippel stated that he and Commissioner Kurak met to discuss the <br />uses,content and goals of a promotional tape for the City: <br />1. The Star City program requires a promotional tape; <br />2. The tape should be a quality production to market and represent the <br />City; <br />3. Production of the tape would be from slides of the City, civic <br />organizations (Lions, RYAA, etc.), community, etc. - to be editted <br />by Commissioners Ippel and Kurak; <br />4. Marketing the City through <br />- one at City Hall <br />- Ramsey Economic Development Company <br />- realtors for potential customers <br />- air on Cable T.V. on local access channel <br />- schools, civic organizations <br />- to sell the City on the City <br />5. Contents of tape <br />- no more than 10 minutes <br />- segmented <br />- tie Ramsey to Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area <br />- transition to Ramsey <br />- clubs, organizations, churches in Ramsey <br />- parks and recreation <br />- transportation (air, rail, highways) <br />- employment/economic development (possible interviews with local <br />businesses) <br />- education opportunities <br />- health care services <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg asked whether CDBG funds could be used for this project. <br />Community Development Director Norris stated that CDBG funds could be used for <br />the production of a promotional tape provided that the City has as economic <br />development marketing program that outlines how the City intends to use the <br />brochure, tape, etc. Commissioner Ippel repeated that the promotional tape is <br />a requirement for the Star City economic development program. Commissioner <br />DeLuca asked whether the tape was the only part lacking from Ramsey qualifying <br />as a Star City. City Administrator Hartley responded that the Star City <br />program requires cities to do a comprehensive survey of themselves to determine <br />where their strengths and weaknesses are. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hardin commented that if the City proceeds with the tape, the <br />information included must of a nature that it won't date too quickly. <br />Commissioner Wagner asked whether other businesses could give us quotes for the <br />production of a promotional tape. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Hardin and seconded by Commissioner DeLuca to recommend <br />to the City Council that the EDC wants to prepare a video presentation at a <br />maximum cost of $3,000 and that the EDC would like input from the City Council <br />June 11,1986 Economic Development Commission <br /> <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />
