Regular City Council minutes dated January 8, 1985. <br /> <br />2. Regular City Council minutes dated January 22, 1985. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults brought up for discussion the fact that previous minutes <br />refer to Commissioner Cox resigning from the Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cox stated that he has not resigned and this is an attempt by <br />Staff to have one particular person appointed to the Commission. Commissioner <br />Cox stated he will be submitting a written resignation when the time is right. <br />Commissioner Cox stated that Mr. ~m Kurak of TK Industries is interested in <br />serving on Ramsey's Economic Development Commission; he is a Ramsey <br />businessman and is in the process of building a home on Sunfish Lake Blvd. <br /> <br />~1SSIO~BUS~~ES~ <br /> <br />Cqse "J1.: Subcomm~ tt~.. ~~~~~: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />a) Legislative- <br /> <br />Commissioner Cox stated that two meetings have been held one with Senator <br />Greg Dahl and one with Representative John Hartinger. This City's concerns, <br />especially in the area of real estate taxes, were strongly emthasized and <br />Senator Dahl indicated he would work with the City on this issue. <br />Representative Hartinger also attended Ramsey's February 12, 1985 Council <br />meeting and stated that he has 4 bills to introduce to legislature that will <br />prevent new landfills from being established in his district. Commissioner <br />Cox stated that Representative Hartinger's heart is in the right place but <br />those bills have not passed yet; regardless of those bills, there are City <br />ordinances the City has to deal with. <br /> <br />b) Economic/Finance- <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults stated that this subcommittee's energies have been directed <br />towards the City brochure, which is on this agenda for discussion in Case #2. <br /> <br />('~~~_#4.: Status. of Economi~ De.veloIlllent Brochure..: <br /> <br />The Commission received copies of the brochure draft. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults stated that the original brochure draft has been condensed <br />extensively and noted that other cities have brochures, for which there is no <br />charge, that present the highlights and for a fee, provide more extensive back- <br />up material. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg noted that General Motors will be establishing a new <br />division and a decision as to the location for the new division will be made <br />.
