'!he CoIfIrrission noted the following: <br /> <br />1) Special City Q:>tmcil weeting Irinutes dated August 13, 1985. <br /> <br />2) Minutes of public hearing conducted ~ City Q:>tmcil dated August 27, 1985 <br />regarding proposed uses for Revenue Sharing. <br /> <br />3) Regular City Q:>tmcil Ireeting Irinutes dated August 27, 1985. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />(".aRe #8: Discussion Reg~rding Aiqprt RecOIm1el1dation To Cit3 Q:>unQil To <br />Endorse Gatewqy North Master Plan: <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Ippel, Airport C'.<:>Inrission O1ainran, was present and stated that the <br />Airport O:>lI1rission has reoomrended that Council endorse the Air};X>rt Master <br />Plan; endorsing the Airport Master Plan ooes not COIrJIlit the City to developing <br />the airport. Mr. Ippel rEquested that the Econaric Developrent Canrission pass <br />a motion encouraging the City Q:>uncil to endorse the Airport Master Plan and <br />proceed with the next Iilase of the study. <br /> <br />'!he O:>lI1rission discussed certain aspects of the Airport Master Plan, i. e. , <br />developrent and Iraintenance costs to the City, econaric benefits, alternative <br />si tes. <br /> <br />i. <br /> <br />Motion ~ Comrissioner Vevea and seconded ~ Canrissioner Fults to recoJ1'lIrend <br />that City Q:>tmcil endorse the Airport Master Plan. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Canrissioner Hardin expressed concern with the cost to the <br />City for airport developrent versus the actual affect airport developrent will <br />have on econaric developrent; possibly those oollars would be better spent <br />developing the industrial park with sewer and waters; not opposed to the <br />airport but Iraybe there is a better location that would not irwol ve Iroving <br />residences; the possibility of a joint airport developrent with Anoka and Elk <br />River should be pursued. Mr. Ippel stated that Anoka and Elk River have <br />expressed an interest in what happens in Ralrsey with respect to the airport; <br />the time to get those cities irwolved is when RaIrsey has an enoorsed Airport <br />Master Plan. Mr. Ippel stated that with no Irore growth in Ralrsey, the <br />devel.oprent costs would aIrOtmt to $ll/household/year and $55/business/year. <br />Mr. DeLuca referred to infomation contained in the Septarber 3, 1985 Airport <br />Comrission Irinutes frar Kathy Robinson regarding real estate sales in the <br />vicini ty of the airport and stated that he knows the hare at 7440 l52nd Lane <br />was on the Irarket for two years with different realtors and the original asking <br />price was close to $69,000. <br /> <br />Chaiman Greenberg tarporarily tabled the vote on the Irotion until after the <br />Comrission had an opportunity to discuss Case #4 of the agenda. <br /> <br />Mr. Ippel noted that the endorserrent of the Airport Master Plan is a vehicle to <br />do further studies; it ooesnlt trean an airport will developed on that sie. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SeptE!1'ber 11, 1985 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />
