<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Paul Johnson - Resides in White pines Estates. Stated he had applied for a <br />vacancy on the EDC a year ago. He has had no experience in the areas of <br />Planning an~ Economic commissions. He has a limited background as far as <br />community planning is concerned, but he has good ideals and input to provide. <br />He works part time for United Parcel and serving on the Commission would be <br />a good use of his spare time and could possibly used as a stepping stone to <br />the position of Mayor. 'He does have expertise in area of numbers and he can <br />stretch a dollar and put it to it's best use. <br /> <br />Dale Ketchm - Has lived in Ramsey for 10 years. Has served as a personnel <br />placement director with the state of Minnesota for 12 years; presently <br />assigned to the AVTI. He is interested in serving on the EDC for two reasons: <br /> <br />1. When he moved to Ramsey, he resolved to get involved with the City. <br />. <br /> <br />2. His job depends on the economic well-being of the City. <br /> <br />Ken Wagner - Has lived in Ramsey since 1975 in Whispering Pines <br />He owns a two man sales agency which is based out of his home. <br />like to serve on the Commission because he lives in and enjoys <br />would like to be a part of determining the City's direction. <br /> <br />Estates. <br />He would <br />the City and <br /> <br />Commissioner~Fults inquired if there are any provisions in the City policy <br />for acquiring citizen assistance on Commission subcommittees; that it seems <br />a waste of good~nergy when there are four applicants and only one position <br />to fill. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle replied that the ordinance does not provide for outside-@f~the- <br />commission appointments to subcommittees, but that would not prohibit the <br />commissions for requesting citizen assistance on a certain subcommittees. <br /> <br />Commissioner Vevea concurred with Commissioner Fults' suggestion; in the event <br />of future vacancies on the Commission, there would already be some citizens <br />in tune with the workings of the EDC. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg inquired as to the applicant's thoughts on the function of <br />EDC. <br /> <br />Mr. Hardin - To set up a 5-10 year plan for the City regarding types of businesses <br />desired and areas to be expanded and to see that that plan is foliliowed. <br /> <br />Mr. Ketchm - To support existing businesses and attract new businesses. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner - Control the business atmosphere in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson - Inquired if the EDC represents the people of Ramsey and do the <br />people have input to the EDC. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg - Replied that people of Ramsey can provide input during <br />Citizen Input of every meeting and the EDC works for the best interest of the <br />City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Schmidt pointed out that the EDC does not have the authority to <br />dictate where industrial areas will be; that is the function of Planning and <br />Zoning Commission and Council. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults explained that the function of EDC is to bring employment <br />and tax base to the City. <br /> <br />EDC/February 8, 1984 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br />
