Commissioner Schmidt introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: . ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RESOLUTION #84-1 WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Highway Department is planning to upgrade Ferry Street (State Highway #169) and the bridge between the City of Champlin and Highway #10 by widening the Mississippi River bridge and Ferry Street to relieve vehicular traffic bottleneck; and WHEREAS, Mn/DoT has presented a specific proposal for the improvement of Ferry Street (State Highway #169) which involves widening said roadway, adding turn lanes and the installation of median strip; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey Economic Development Commission finds that Mn/DoT's present plans are not adequate to handle present day vehicular traffic. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE RAMSEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) The Ramsey EDC supports as a first priority item the establishment of an above or below grade crossing and connector west of the Rum River but no further west than Sunfish Lake Blvd. NW. . 2) It is requested that the Ramsey City Council work with the Anoka City Council and other concerned communities to urge Mn/DoT to establish alternative methods in handling traffic bottleneck at State Highways #47 and #169. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Vevea and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Commissioners Schmidt, Vevea, Greenberg, Muller, Miller, Fults, Guy and Hardin and the following voted against the same: None and the following were absent: Commissioners Cox and Schneider whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey Economic Development Commission this the 18th day of April 1984. ~~.
