Mr. Kummala
has sold is gymnasium building in Anoka and is looking to relocate
the business in Ramsey. Mr. Kummala stated he really doesn't
need much in the way of financing because he has the revenue from
the sale of his building in Anoka to reinvest. He is interested
in what the City of Ramsey does have to offer businesses coming
in and is looking for advice as to the most advantageous location
for his gymnasium business.

Mr. Schnelle stated that the City is in the process of hiring a
planner but for right now it would be good for Mr. Kummala to
meet with EDC member Darryl Fults.

Chairman Greenberg inquired if Mr. Schnelle has received any
reports from Councilmember Sorteberg regarding the Highway
Committee; that the highway issue is top priority and will have
a bearing on where incoming businesses will want to locate.

Mr. Schnelle stated that he has not heard from Councilmember
Sorteberg but that he will contact him and the City of Anoka
regarding the highway issue.

Mr. Landowski of Sleep Easy Mattress stated he has bought
property in the vicinity of Hwy. 10 and Alpaca Estates at which
to locate his business. Mr. Landowski stated that he was
recently offered a national franchise with Spring Air Mattress
Company and if this deal goes through it will involve an
expansion for Sleep Easy Company. Mr. Landowski inquired as
to what type of assistance the City of Ramsey can offer
considering the expansion would be quite an enterprise for the
City and would involve employing 25-30 persons.

.

Discussion ensued regarding Industrial Revenue Bonds, Tax Increment
Financing and various other grants available.

Commission consensus is that EDC Economic subcommittee should
work with businesses attempting to come into the City.

EDC/June 13, 1984
