There is also concern for quality of work as the students working
with Ramsey would be freshmen and sophomores. Ms. Norris stated that
Hamline has no ready pool of students to draw from and she has not been
able to contact the appropriate person at AVTI.

Chairman Greenberg and Commissioner Hardin suggested also contacting St.
Cloudt U of Mt Art Dussl and Arv Lenz to work on Ramsey's star city tasks.

Commissioner Hardin noted that Council denied the Commission's original
proposal for an intern and recent discussions of not adding city staff may
indicate that it is a waste of time to continue to pursue the intern idea.

Commissioner Gorecki stated that the star city business survey should be
preceded by a letter from the Mayor explaining what is trying to be
accomplished.

Commissioner Wagner stated that the star city program is intended to aid
citizens develop a marketing program for the city and that can't be
accomplished by hiring someone to do the tasks.

Commissioner Gorecki stated that then it is an issue of whether someone
should be hired to do the busy work.

Economic Development Commission/October l4t 1987
