Brush disposal can be a pro-
blem and chipping converts the brush into a usable
product, with no disease problems. Ramsey's brush
chipping program will offer the following services:

· Free brush chipping
· Information on tree disease prevention and control
· Information on the use of wood chips
· Wood chips available for use
· Information on the composting of leaves and grass

These free services are offered to control the cur-
rent disease problems and decrease the need for
burning permits to be issued during the year. These
services will be provided on a neighborhood-wide
format to encourage the efficient use of the program
resources.
Who is eligible?
All residents with brush or prunings from healthy
or diseased trees who prepare the piles correctly,
with convenient access.
How can you participate?
Fill out the questionnaire and return it to Wood-
chipping Program, Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153
Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303.

NAME
ADDRESS
PHONE NUMBER

I ALREADY HAVE MY BRUSH STACKED ACCOR-
DING TO GUIDELINES YES NO
AND READY TO CHIP.

MY BRUSH PILE CONTAINS DISEASED WOOD;
OAK WILT _DUTCH ELM DISEASE
PINE BARK BEETLE

I WOULD LIKE WOOD CHIPS FOR MY OWN USE
YES NO.

GET YOUR FREE WOOD CHIPS

Free wood and brush chips generated in the Ci-
ty's woodchipping program are being stockpiled at
Central Park and available for use by residents. You
may pick them up at your convenience and in any
quantity. Wheter you need a truckload or a pail full,
they're yours for the taking. Placement of the
wood/brush chips around trees, shrubs or any plan-
tings aids greatly in retaining the moisture and ad-
ding nutrients to the soil. If you have any questions
pertaining to any aspect of the brush chipping pro-
gram, please call Jim Gromberg at 427-1410.

NEIGHBORHOOD
BRUSHCHIPPING
MEETINGS TO BE HELD

Over the next 6 weeks, several informational
neighborhood meetings are going to be held con-
cerning the brushchipping program. A short video
tape will be shown, followed by a presentation of in-
formation concerning you, your neighborhood and
the environment. These meetings will emphasize the
importance and benefits of a good environment. We
will also be addressing neighborhood awareness
and involvement in the community with respect to
the quality of life in Ramsey. If you would be in-
terested in hosting one of these meetings in your
neighborhood, contact Angie at City Hall (427-1410)
or drop us a note at 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W.,
Ramsey, Mn 55303.

I AM INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT
THE VALUE OF COMPOSTING
MULCHING UTILIZATION
OF ORGANIC MATERIALS.

I WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN A
NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING ABOUT
RECYCLING _ DISEASE CONTROL
AI R/W A TER/SOIL/QUALlTY.

I NEED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT:_

RAMSEY SETS THE PACE FOR COUNTY RECYCLING PROGRAMS
Listed below is the recycling tonnage report for the City of Ramsey for the first half of 1989. Applica-
tions are processed on a first come basis. The ap-
plications are then compiled for a month and sent
to the contractor. The contractor then schedules their
employees to do the sites using the following criteria:
disease control sites will have first priority; after these
sites are completed, all other sites will be done. The
time span from when you turn in your application un-
til your material is chipped is being reduced as the
backlog of brush material is reduced. The contrac-
tor will be contacting each resident 2 to 3 days before
they arrive to do the actual chipping. When the con-
tractor contacts the resident, they will be asking if
you would like to keep the chips and for any special
conditions concerning your pile of brush. It is very
important that the resident place their pile at the cor-
ner of the driveway and the city street. If the con-
tractor cannot find the pile or gain access, it will be
skipped and placed at the end of the list.

GUIDELINES FOR BRUSH PILES

IF YOU ANTICIPATE PARTICIPATING IN THE BRUSH CHIP-
PING PROGRAM, THE FOllOWING GUIDELINES Will
APPl Y:

· Brush must be stacked with the trunk ends in the same
direction.
. Brush diameter should be 5 inches or less and length
is restricted to 6 - 8 feet. Brush piles may be stacked
up to 6 feet in height.
· Brush must be neatly stacked where it is readily ac-
cessible to the truck and chipper trailer, i.e., alongside
driveways.
· Only clean brush and limb piles will be accepted; i.e.,
no rocks, dirt, whole trees, stumps, metal, plastic,
cloth, boards, leaves or grass.
. Healthy and diseased brush, limbs and prunings will
be accepted. The chipping process removes the
disease hazards and the chips can be used for mulch,
landscaping, weed control and moisture retention.
