The
Conference brought 450 junior high students from across
the metro area together to learn about health issues and
prevention programs. Jodi and Patricia taught junior high
students about alcohol and the consequences of its use. They
mixed videos, discussions, and games to get the students
actively involved in the session.
Jodi and Patricia are teen instructors in the Alcohol and
Safety Decisions Program in Anoka County. This program
involves teen volunteers who receive training that prepares
them to give 3 hours of instruction to elementary students
in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. This program is offered by the
Minnesota Extension Service, Anoka County 4-H Youth
Development. The program is available to all public and
private elementary schools in the county. The Anoka Coun-
ty Extension office, 755-1280, can be contacted for more
information about the program.
The strength of this program is teens serving as positive
role models for younger youth. It proves that teens can help
make an important difference in our communities!

...~

LIBRARY KIDS -,~ .',~ /..,'
FLIP OVER BOOKS
THIS SUMMER AT
ANOKA COUNTY LIBRARY

All children are invited to join the LIBRARY KIDS FLIP OVER
BOOKS Summer Reading Club for 1990 at the Anoka Coun-
ty Library.
