<br />The categories listed for expenditures are further described as

<br />General Government consists of expenditures for Mayor and Council,
<br />Economic Development Commission, Charter Commission, Airport
<br />Commission, Planning Commission, Landfill Commission, Ad-
<br />ministration, Elections, Finance, Assessing, Legal, Planning and
<br />Zoning, Data Processing, General Government Buildings and the
<br />preparation of this newsletter. Public Safety consists of police pro-
<br />tection, fire protection, building inspection, traffic engineering and
<br />animal control. Public works consists of engineering, street
<br />maintenance, snow and ice removal and weed control. Culture and
<br />
<br />recreation consist of expenditures for our park systems. Conser-
<br />vation of natural resources consists of our shade tree disease con-
<br />trol. Debt service are funds which are used to pay for loans that
<br />the City of Ramsey has established in the past.
<br />
<br />Capital outlay represents the expenditures that the city plans to make
<br />to purchase things or to build things as opposed to the operating
<br />budget mentioned above. The most significant capital outlay items
<br />is the development of a Ramsey Fire Department and continued
<br />development of the City's park system.
<br />

<br />made available to those who would like to have a copy.

<br />The following two pie charts shows where the City receives its
<br />money and how that money is spent. These pie charts do not analyze
<br />your total property tax bill, but rather just the city portion (which
<br />is approximately 17% of the taxes a property owner in Ramsey
<br />pays in property taxes). The purpose of the charts in this article
<br />are to illustrate how the City of Ramsey proposed to use funds col-
<br />lected in 1989. For further information regarding the City's budget
<br />of the operations of the City, Ramsey residents are encouraged
