RAMSEY LIONS CLUB

The Ramsey Lions Club prepared and distributed
food baskets and gifts for twenty-nine Ramsey
families just prior to the Christmas holidays. The
Lions spent $1,900 to cover this community need.
The Ramsey Lions also arranged a holiday tour
of the metro Christmas decorations for the senior
citizens club. Everyone had a tremendous time. The
Christmas lights tour and the meal later were en-
joyed by all the seniors and the many Lions who also
went along. Special thanks to Lion Milt Anderson
who arranged this event.
The funding for these charitable activities and
other donations discussed in past articles comes
from the Ramsey Lions Club charitable gambling
concessions at Jimmy B's and the Super Bowl. The
City of Ramsey and its residents have received over
$35,000 from the profits from these pulltab opera-
tions since the Ramsey Lions became licensed for
this type of activity. The Lions have made a
significantly increasing number of contributions to
local causes, parks, programs, residents in need,
and charities. Your Ramsey Lions are proud to have
been able to help the community in this manner.
The annual midwinter Lions Convention for District
5M7 will be held in January. Many of the members
will be attending this event to learn more about
Lionism and to participate in many of the activities
held during the convention. The Ramsey Lions will
also assist with the bimonthly commodity distribu-
tion in January.
The months of January, February and March will
be membership growth months for Lions Interna-
tional. Anyone wanting information about Lionism or
wishing to join the Ramsey Lions Club should call
Lion Olaf Olson (427-3169) or Lion Jerry Hamlet
(441-1630).
WATER QUALITY SEMINARS
Many new homeowners in Anoka County are
finding that having their own private water and sep-
tic systems brings a new set of challenges that were
unknown to them when they were on city water and
to look for help from well drillers, septic tank
maintenance companies and water testing services
from the County Environmental Services.
Information in the form of fact sheets and bulletins
are also available from the Anoka County Extension
Service. For the homeowner wanting a chance to
better understand their private water system, the Ex-
tension Service is also cooperating with the Min-
nesota Pollution Control Agency in presenting a
series of three water quality seminars:
