<br />11 :00 A.M., Dr. Karlis Kaufmanis, Professor of
<br />Astronomy will present his reknowned lecture "Star
<br />of Bethlehem".

<br />Two Exciting Senior High Trips
<br />
<br />At Lord Of Life
<br />
<br />Lord of Life Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Spring
<br />Break Trip to San Diego, CA and a Summer Trip to
<br />San Antonio, TX. They are open to youth grades 8-12
<br />and you do not need to be a member to participate.
<br />The Spring Break Trip to San Diego is scheduled
<br />for March 26-31, 1988. The group will enjoy the
<br />ocean beach, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and
<br />much more! Sign up by January 15, 1988.
<br />The Summer Trip to San Antonio is scheduled for
<br />July 28 - August 7, 1988. While in San Antonio the
<br />group will join over 20,000 other young people for
<br />a youth gathering. They will also travel to Nuevo
<br />Laredo, Mexico and to the beach of Padre Island!

<br />Instructors are needed to share their talents or
<br />skills with the youth in Ramsey. These are paid posi-
<br />tions. Instructors are needed in the following areas:
<br />Preschool classes, rocketry, cheerleading, arts &
<br />crafts, floor hockey, as well as any special talent you
<br />may have. You must be 16 years of age. Call

<br />RAMSEY LIONS CLUB
<br />
<br />November was a busy month for the Ramsey
<br />Lions Club. Donations were made to the Anoka
<br />Retarded Citizens Council ($135.00), Ramsey Boy
<br />Scouts ($1,490.39), Ramsey candidate for the Miss
<br />American Teen Coed Pageant ($100.00), and
<br />$500.00 to help with the expenses for a local nurse
<br />who spent her thanksgiving holidays in Agra, India,
<br />helping a medical team from the Anoka area provide
<br />eye examinations, eyeglasses, and several cataract
<br />operations to the poor people in Agra, India.
<br />Thanksgiving food baskets were also distributed
<br />to many local residents that needed some
<br />assistance.
<br />December activities planned include a Christmas
<br />party for the Ramsey Lions and their spouses. The
<br />Lions will also sponsor a chartered bus ride for many
<br />local senior citizens who will tour the Minneapolis
<br />and St. Paul areas looking at Christmas decorations
<br />and displays. Christmas food baskets and other help
<br />will also be distributed to needy residents of the area.
<br />The annual midwinter Lions Convention for District
<br />5M7 will be held in January. The bimonthly com-
<br />modity distribution is also scheduled for January.
<br />The months of January, February, and March will
<br />be membership growth months for Lions Interna-
<br />tional. Anyone, male or female, wishing information
<br />about Lions or wishing to join the Ramsey Lions Club
<br />should call Lion Olaf Olson (427-3169) or Lion Jerry
<br />Hamlet (441-1630).
<br />The Ramsey Lions Club would also like to take this
<br />opportunity to wish all area residents a Merry
<br />Christmas and a Happy 1988. We would also like

<br />The Ramsey Community Education Advisory
<br />Council meets the 4th Thursday of each month at
<br />6:30 p.m. at Ramsey Elementary School. All
<br />meetings are open to the public. .
<br />Citizen participation is the key to the Community
<br />Education concept. Ramsey Community Education
<br />Advisory Council, made up of local representatives,
<br />assists the Community Education staff in meeting
<br />the community's needs. The Council helps in plan-
<br />ning, developing and assessment of community pro-
<br />grams, improves communication between school
<br />and community and promotes the concept of Com-
<br />munity Education. Listed below are the Advisory
<br />Council members. They are your representatives. If
<br />you have suggestions for programs, let one of them
<br />know.

<br />SNOWMOBILE SAFETY
<br />
<br />State law requires everyone between the ages of
<br />12-17 must hold a Snowmobile Safety Certificate
<br />before operating a snowmobile. Students are re-
<br />quired to attend all four sessions plus a snowmobile
<br />operating test. The course is coordinated through the
<br />Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the
<br />Ramsey Sno-Rams snowmobile club in cooperation
<br />with Ramsey Community Education. Class is limited
<br />so register early. Cost is $5.50. Dates of the class
<br />are Tuesday, January 5, 12, 19 and 26. Time is
<br />6:30-8:30 p.m. Please send name, address, age,

<br />ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

<br />The Ramsey Youth Athletic Association (RYAA)
<br />has changed the date of the general monthly
<br />meetings to the 4th Monday of each month. The
<br />meeting will still be held at Ramsey City Hall at 7:30
<br />p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday,
<br />January 25, 1988. It is important that all parents of
<br />RY AA participants attend as the newly elected of-
<br />ficers will be taking office and need that support.

<br />gram by being present on January 25. The propos-

<br />Service at Cross of Hope
<br />Family candlelight service will be held at 4:00 and
<br />10:30 p.m. at Cross of Hope. Holy Communion and
<br />the singing of many of the Christmas carols will be
<br />included in the service.

<br />Pre-school director, Deidre Ewert, of Children of

<br />AEROBICS CLASSES OFFERED
<br />AT CITY HALL
<br />
<br />Aerobic Fitness Light is a total workout with warm
<br />up, aerobics conditioning, muscle strength and ton-
<br />ing exercises plus cool down with stretching. This
<br />class has an athletic style and lively music. The light
<br />version is a gentle, slower paced, low impact class.
<br />Class starts January 4, meets Monday and Wednes-
<br />day from 10:00-11 :00 a.m. at City Hall. Cost for 4
<br />week session is $16.00.
<br />Gut Busters, for men only, includes strengthen-
<br />ing calisthenics and aerobic workout. Class begins
<br />January 18, 1988, meets Mondays and
<br />Wednesdays, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Cost
<br />for the 4 week session is $16.00.

<br />RAMSEY JAYCEES
<br />
<br />On November 10th, Judy Ensrud of Brooklyn Park
<br />was presented a certificate of appreciation by the
<br />Ramsey Jaycees, acknowledging her assisstance in
<br />preparing a banner for the Jaycees. Judy
<br />volunteered her time and ideas in the finishing
<br />touches of the large banner used at the Business
<br />Expo held in Ramsey in October. Presenting her with
<br />the certificate along with a bouquet and a small gift
<br />were Ramsey Jaycee members Sharon Bruns and
<br />Sheila Gregory. Thanks, Judy, for volunteering your
<br />time to us. Judy does creative stitchery in her home
<br />as a sideline. The banner is on display in the hobby
<br />of Ramsey City Hall.
