You must have written permission from the
owner of the property on which you intend to
hunt.
,2. The area in which you are hunting must be
1500 feet from any residence or other
structure.
3. The only type of firearm allowed is a shotgun
with no larger than size 4 shot.
The following rules apply to bow and arrow
hunting:
1. You must be 300 yards from any residential
structure, commercial structure, park or
playground and 150 yards from any trunk
highway.
2. Applicants must apply for a bow and arrow hun-
ting permit at the Ramsey Police Department.
3. You must have written permission from the
owner of the property on which you intend to
hunt and your hunting license when applying
for a permit at the Police Department.
4. Ramsey bow and arrow hunting permits are
issued for the annual season only.

ATTENTION
HEATING PERMITS REQUIRED
FOR REPLACEMENT AND
REPAIR WORK TO
HEATING SYSTEMS

Per the State Building Code, the City of Ramsey
requires a heating permit for the installation of gas
piping and the conversion or installation of heating
equipment for existing construction as well as new
construction.
The permit charge is $25.00 for residential proper-
ties and 1 % of the valuation (or a minimum of
$25.00) for commercial properties. This fee helps
defray the cost of inspections of the system. Persons
are urged to comply with the permit requirement in
order that inspections can be conducted to insure
that the systems are functioning properly for health
and life safety reasons.
Applications for heating permits can be made at
Ramsey Municipal Center during the hours of 8:30
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you need
additional information, contact Building Official Elvin
Erickson at 427-1410.

CHIMNEY SAFETY HINTS

With the arrival of the heating season, it is time to
make sure that chimneys are clean and in proper
working order.

Chimneys should be cleaned frequently, especially
if used often in the winter. There are several chimney
sweeps in the area who will clean your chimney for
a fee, or you can call a rental business and obtain
cleaning equipment.

There are chimney fire extinguishers for sale at most
hardware and lumber stores. These are designed for
home owners to put in the stove when they ex-
perience a chimney fire.

To make sure a chimney fire doesn't take you by sur-
prise, check smoke detectors to make sure they are
working properly. The life they save may be yours.

Finally, make sure flammable liquids are removed
from the home.

These hints can help keep your fireplace the cozy
addition to your home it was intended to be.
