The Ramsey Economic Development Company
(REDC), at it's first annual stockholders meeting in
January, announced the sale of additional stock
shares in the company.
The REDC is a non-profit company whose primary
purpose is to promote the development and expan-
sion of new and existing businesses in Ramsey. The
REDC will work as a liaison between the city and the
private sector, as a source of information and
assistance in meeting the development needs of
GOT SOMETHING TO SAY?

Remember Citizen Input. The Ramsey City Coun-
cil, Economic Development Commission, Park
Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, Airport
Commission and Charter Commission all have a
"Citizen Input" time set aside at the beginning of
each meeting. "Citizen Input" permits citizens to ad-
dress Councilor Commissions without first having
to get on the agenda.
If you have something that you would like to bring
to the attention of Councilor Commissions, don't
forget "Citizen Input."

HOMESTEAD INFORMATION

If you purchased a home during 1985, or if there is
a change in name due to a divorce, you should be
aware that the deadline for filing homestead with the
County was January 2. It is possible to apply for 1/2
year homestead credit and the deadline for doing
so is June 10. You should also be aware that:

1. If you purchased a new or existing home in
Ramsey during 1985, and have not filed a "New
Owner Application" with the City Assessor's Of-
fice, you should do so immediatley. In certain in-
stances you may have received a homestead card
in the mail; however, if a "New Owner Applica-
tion" has not been filed with the City, homestead
classification will not be granted.

2. If you and your spouse were divorced, and you
were awarded the real estate as part of the set-
tlement, you must present the document giving
you title to the property to the County Assessor's
Office. The document may be a Quit Claim Deed
or a court order. This is extremely important,
especially if you have remarried and changed
your last name.

3. If your spouse has died and you are sole owner
of the property, the document giving you full title
to the property should be presented to the Coun-
ty Assessor's Office. This is especially important
if you have remarried and have changed your last
name.

In each instance, the burden of proof of owner-
ship is on the property owner. If any of these cir-
cumstances apply to you, contact the City
Assessor's Office at 427-1410.
