as the one we grew up in or more. If we don't put restoration into our
recycling agenda, there will not be a way to hold that line even. Everyone
of us as citizens have the responsibility to figure out how to handle our
own waste stream as an exercise in what companies like Atlas are trying to
do for us. One of the questions we might ask is what will be excluded from
burning at Atlas.

Bernie Vevea - 14047 Azurite Street - Stated that he does two things well -
create garbage and blacksmith. All people understand blacksmithing; it is
a trade that started years ago. Every village had a blacksmith and he was
very important. Through the years, blacksmithing has progressed into
manufacturing and everybody thinks manufacturing is alright because they
understand it. Mr. Vevea stated that he creates a lot of garbage and he
doesn't understand a lot about getting rid of it other than to give it to
somebody else. Ramsey has an opportunity to get a company that will
provide the technology for getting rid of garbage rather than having having
everybody elses garbage dumped on us. Mr. Vevea stated that he has been in
Ramsey for 15 years and if Atlas wants to come to Ramsey and share the tax
burden, he welcomes them.

Douglas Fountain - 15255 Garnet - Stated that he attended tonight's meeting
for other reasons and inquired if other cases on the agenda will be
addressed tonight.

Chairman Zimmerman replied that the public hearing will continue until all
comments are heard.

Motion by Commissioner Howell and seconded by Commissioner Holm to adjourn
the public hearing.

Further Discussion: Mr. -Goodrich inquired if the Commission desired to
leave the public hearing open for a certain period of time to receive
written comments.

Commissioner Howell restated his motion as follcws:

Motion by Commissioner Howell and seconded by Commissioner Holm to continue
the public hearing until Thursday, June 16, for the purpose of accepting
written comments as well as any other information that may come to the
Commission.

Motion carried.
Howell and Holm.
and LaDue.

Voting Yes:
Voting No:

Chairman Zimmerman, Commissioners Hendriksen,
None. Absent: Commissioners Shumway, Terry

The public hearing adjourned at 10:30 p.m.

Respectfully
submitted,

Sylvia Frolik ACne Norris
/
Planning & Zoning Public Hearing}June 7, 1988
