<br />A program of free tuition'is
<br />now available at Anoka-Ram-
<br />sey Community College for
<br />students over age 25, accord-
<br />ing to Don L. Johnson, finan-
<br />cial aid director.
<br />The program -- "Opportunity
<br />Grants for Life-Long Learning"
<br />-- is funded during the 1985-86
<br />academic year by the Alliss
<br />Education Foundation.
<br />"We are excited about this
<br />program because there's no
<br />red tape, just a simple applica-
<br />tion form," said Johnson.
<br />These grants will cover tui-
<br />tion and books for six credits
<br />
<br />.c:
<br />
<br />or less. With tuition at $26 per
<br />credit and the average cost of
<br />books estimated at $8 per
<br />credit, grants to anyone stu-
<br />dent could range up to about
<br />$200. A student could take the
<br />grant-credits during one quar-
<br />ter or over more than one quar-
<br />ter during the 1985-86 aca-
<br />demic year.
<br />The program is intended for
<br />older, part time students. The
<br />conditions that are to be met
<br />include:
<br />1. The student does not
<br />have a bachelor's (or higher)
<br />degree.

<br />Anoka-Ramsey Community
<br />College has just completed 20
<br />years of service to the com-
<br />munity and during the coming
<br />year the campus will continue
<br />to expand to meet the chang-
<br />ing needs of the area.
<br />Recently the property and
<br />building on the corner of Coon
<br />Rapids and Mississippi Boule-
<br />vards became part of the cam-
<br />pus, the 10th building. This fall
<br />the nursing program is housed
<br />there.
<br />A $3.3 million construction
<br />and remodeling project is now
<br />taking place in three major
<br />areas of the present campus.
<br />Among the changes will be ad-

<br />ditional classrooms, connec-
<br />tions between several build-
<br />ings, remodeling of the kit-
<br />chen facilities and expanded
<br />library space.
<br />The Cambridge' Center is
<br />also adding a classroom build-
<br />ing and lecture hall.
<br />Classes are continuing as
<br />,usual throughout this year of
<br />construction, although there
<br />will be some inconveniences
<br />to students and guests.

<br />at Anoka-Ramsey Community
<br />College for Fall 1985 include a
<br />wide variety of topics.
<br />These non-credit classes
<br />are offered for continuing
<br />education units and for per-
<br />sonal development.
<br />"Business Management"
<br />topics include The Manager's
<br />Advantage and Home-Based
<br />Business: Best of Both
<br />Worlds. -
<br />In the "Investment-Fin-
<br />ance" area Real Estate for ,the
<br />First-Time Investor and Strate-
<br />gies for Investing.
<br />The "Personal and Profes-
<br />sional Development" section
<br />has courses in assertiveness,
<br />piano tuning, self-defense,
<br />resume writing, procrastina-
<br />
<br />tion, handling stress, career
<br />assessment, and a study skills
<br />workshop called "Learn to
<br />Learn". '
<br />Nursing continuing educa-
<br />tion classes are offered each
<br />quarter on a wide range of nur-
<br />sing topics, including one on
<br />Alzheimers October 9. Call the
<br />nursing department for more
<br />information. '
<br />Computer topics include
<br />Appleworks, The Computer as
<br />Writing Tool, and using the
<br />microcomputer for successful
<br />sales management.
