<br /> <br />~ - --- --.. -. <br /> <br />~;;:;~ <br /> <br />..... !IIIlI _ <br />, ---.. ----.,pq <br /> <br />~-- .....-- ~ <br />, <br />I <br /> <br />Tri-City Newsletter, September/October 1985 - Page 7 ~ <br />, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TY O,P 'RaMSEY <br /> <br /> <br />YThf1&dftr"'~;"'i':> ~ ' "-- ~o <br /> <br /> <br />Commission Meeting News <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning <br />Commission met on July 2 and <br />recommended: <br />-Approval of a temporary <br />office building for Great Plains <br />Gas. _ <br />-Council appoint Mr. Roy <br />Shumway to the Planning <br />Commission. <br />The Economic Development <br />Commission met on June 12 <br />and: <br />-Acquired $200 from <br />EDC's budget to be used for <br />Economic Development Com- <br />pany's letterhead and postage <br />costs. <br />-Approved .City brochure <br />layout. <br />-Directed the Finance and <br />Economic Subcommittee to <br />research the possi bi I ity of <br />Community Development <br />Block Grant funds being used <br />to extend sewer trunk into the <br />industrial area north of Hwy. <br />10. <br />The Economic and Develop- <br />ment Commission met on <br />June 26 and: <br />-It was reported that the <br />City would not be entitled to <br />receive compensation from <br />property ow.ners if CDBG <br />funds are used for sewer trunk <br />line construction; use of Tax <br />Increment funds for such con- <br />struction would allow for the <br />City to be compensated. <br />The Economic Development <br /> <br />Commission met on July 10 <br />and: <br />-Directed the Economic <br />and Finance Subcommittee to <br />research the possibility of tax <br />increment financing being us- <br />ed for airport development, <br />should the airport project be- <br />come a reality. <br />The Airport Commission <br />met on June 19 and: <br />-Requested Council ap- <br />proval to expend funds for a <br />city-wide distributed one-page <br />flyer advertising the Airport <br />Public Hearing onAugust 21. <br />The Airport 'Commission <br />met on June 26 and: <br />-Recommended that the <br />Economic Development Com- <br />mission research the possibili- <br />ty of declaring the Ramsey In- <br />dustrial Park and all residen- <br />tial area within the limits of <br />the Airport Master Plan as a <br />Tax Increment Project Area. <br />-Recommended that the <br />City initiate proceedings to ac- <br />quire FAA site approval and in- <br />clusion into the National Plan <br />of Integrated Airport Systems <br />noting that this action does <br />not obligate the City to airport <br />development. <br />The Airport Commission <br />met on July 17 and: <br />-Updated the local media <br />as to the airport tssoe '" <br />Ramsey. <br />The .Landfill Committee met <br /> <br />on June 3 and: <br />-Discussed the fact that <br />the Metro Council has set a <br />1988 deadline for cities and <br />counties to begin abatement <br />programs; those not meeting <br />the deadline will have a man- <br />datory program placed on <br />them by 1990. Committee con- <br />sensus is to further research <br />feasible abatement programs <br />in Ramsey which would <br />qualify for County funds avail- <br />able. <br />The Landfill Committee met <br />on June 17 and: <br />-Requested Council ap- <br />proval for a member of the <br />Landfill Committee to attend a <br />seminar regarding recycling, <br />composting, etc. sponsored <br />by the Metro Council. <br />-Heard-from citizens and! <br />or companies interested in <br />abatement programs in <br />Ramsey. <br />The Landfill Committee met <br />on July 1 and: <br />-Heard from former Repre- <br />sentative Ernie Larsen regard- <br />ing legislation relating to the <br />disposal of waste tires. <br />. -Discussed vandalism oc- <br />curring in the area of the Jand- <br />fi II. <br />The Landfill Commillee met <br />on July 10 and: <br />-Mo.ed to reCo(T'~end <br />Council adopt an abatement <br />program in Ramsey that would <br /> <br /> <br />NATI0NAL <br />Hunting & Fishing <br />DAY SEPT. 28,1985 <br /> <br />'T <br />'r <br /> <br />- - - -- - -- <br /> <br />Men's <br />Brown <br />Jersey <br />Gloves <br /> <br />Reg. <br />$1.95 <br /> <br />97C <br /> <br />focus on educating the public <br />as to abatement and recycling, <br />include glass recycling as a. <br />pilot project and promote the <br />use of existing recycling drop <br />off centers for paper, metal, oil <br />and aluminum. <br />-Discussed the possibility <br />of using Landfill Trust Fund <br />monies to hire a consultant to <br />develop a complete recycling <br />program in Ramsey. <br />The Landfill Committee met <br />on July 22 and: <br />-Recommended that the <br />market study of properties af- <br />fected by the landfill include <br />information with respect to <br />landfill impact, distance of im- <br />pact and the state of the <br />economy at the time of the <br />study. <br />The Landfill Committee met <br />on August 5 and: <br />-Approved the proposal <br />draft for the market analysis <br />the City is engaging regarding <br />properties affected by the <br />landfill. <br /> <br />-Mr. Miller reported that <br />groundwater monitoring <br />report is proceeding and the <br />due date has been extended <br />from August to December. <br />The Park and Recreation <br />Commission met. on May 16 <br />and: <br />-Reviewed plans for pri- <br />vate park to be developed in <br />the Northfork development. <br />-Formed a committee to <br />plana community fund raiser <br />to match the Lutheran Brother- <br />hood's donation for park <br />development in Ramsey. <br />The Park and Recreation <br />Commission met on June 20 <br />and: <br />-Councilmember Cox ap- <br />proached the Commission and <br />suggested that the funds gen- <br />erated by the community fund <br />raiser and Lutheran Brother- <br />hood donation be divided <br />equally between Central Park <br />and River's Bend Park.
