The Economic Development Commission met on June 12 and: -Acquired $200 from EDC's budget to be used for Economic Development Com- pany's letterhead and postage costs. -Approved .City brochure layout. -Directed the Finance and Economic Subcommittee to research the possi bi I ity of Community Development Block Grant funds being used to extend sewer trunk into the industrial area north of Hwy. 10. The Economic and Develop- ment Commission met on June 26 and: -It was reported that the City would not be entitled to receive compensation from property ow.ners if CDBG funds are used for sewer trunk line construction; use of Tax Increment funds for such con- struction would allow for the City to be compensated. The Economic Development Commission met on July 10 and: -Directed the Economic and Finance Subcommittee to research the possibility of tax increment financing being us- ed for airport development, should the airport project be- come a reality. The Airport Commission met on June 19 and: -Requested Council ap- proval to expend funds for a city-wide distributed one-page flyer advertising the Airport Public Hearing onAugust 21. The Airport 'Commission met on June 26 and: -Recommended that the Economic Development Com- mission research the possibili- ty of declaring the Ramsey In- dustrial Park and all residen- tial area within the limits of the Airport Master Plan as a Tax Increment Project Area. -Recommended that the City initiate proceedings to ac- quire FAA site approval and in- clusion into the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems noting that this action does not obligate the City to airport development. The Airport Commission met on July 17 and: -Updated the local media as to the airport tssoe '" Ramsey. The .Landfill Committee met on June 3 and: -Discussed the fact that the Metro Council has set a 1988 deadline for cities and counties to begin abatement programs; those not meeting the deadline will have a man- datory program placed on them by 1990. Committee con- sensus is to further research feasible abatement programs in Ramsey which would qualify for County funds avail- able. The Landfill Committee met on June 17 and: -Requested Council ap- proval for a member of the Landfill Committee to attend a seminar regarding recycling, composting, etc. sponsored by the Metro Council. -Heard-from citizens and! or companies interested in abatement programs in Ramsey. The Landfill Committee met on July 1 and: -Heard from former Repre- sentative Ernie Larsen regard- ing legislation relating to the disposal of waste tires. . -Discussed vandalism oc- curring in the area of the Jand- fi II. The Landfill Committee met on July 22 and: -Recommended that the market study of properties af- fected by the landfill include information with respect to landfill impact, distance of im- pact and the state of the economy at the time of the study. The Landfill Committee met on August 5 and: -Approved the proposal draft for the market analysis the City is engaging regarding properties affected by the landfill. -Mr. Miller reported that groundwater monitoring report is proceeding and the due date has been extended from August to December. The Park and Recreation Commission met. on May 16 and: -Reviewed plans for pri- vate park to be developed in the Northfork development. -Formed a committee to plana community fund raiser to match the Lutheran Brother- hood's donation for park development in Ramsey. The Park and Recreation Commission met on June 20 and: -Councilmember Cox ap- proached the Commission and suggested that the funds gen- erated by the community fund raiser and Lutheran Brother- hood donation be divided equally between Central Park and River's Bend Park. The Commission did not make any official motion.
