<br />has proclaimed July 28 as
<br />Anoka Day at the Dome.
<br />Citizens of the Anoka area
<br />are urged to promote and sup-
<br />port the Minnesota Twins and
<br />promote the city by attending
<br />the game Sunday, July 28,1:15
<br />p.m. The Anoka Area Jaycees
<br />and Jaycee Women are organ-
<br />izing this community event to
<br />show a spirit of unity in Anoka.
<br />The Twins will be playing

<br />The Anoka Senior Center
<br />located at Sixth and Washing-
<br />ton (George Green Park) ex-
<br />tends an invitation to' all
<br />seniors to join us at the center
<br />(60 years of age for dining, 55
<br />years of age for activities).
<br />We have dining five days a
<br />week at 12 noon. Reservations
<br />are two days in advance, but
<br />should you wish to come a cer-
<br />tai n day and you ,have not
<br />registered, please~ - call, as
<br />sometimes cancellations need
<br />to be filled. Penny bingo is
<br />played after dining.

<br />Tigers. $8, $7" and' $4 tickets
<br />will go on sale at First Nation-
<br />al Bank and The Northern
<br />Bank (Anoka and the Ramsey
<br />branch) in early July. Buses
<br />will be available for those who
<br />wish not to drive.
<br />In order to have Anoka Day
<br />at the Dome, 500 tickets must
<br />be sold. The Jaycees and Jay-
<br />cee Women will be receiving a
<br />$1 rebate from each ticket if
<br />
<br />more than 500 are sold. This
<br />money will help support com-
<br />munity service projects and
<br />organizations such as junior
<br />athletic day, senior citizens
<br />card party, outstanding young
<br />adult, champion of cham-
<br />pions; Easter egg hunt, etc.
<br />This is the second year for
<br />the Anoka Day at the Dome.
<br />Last year 516 Anoka area peop-
<br />pie were in attendance and
<br />
<br />watched the Twins beat the
<br />California Angels in extra inn-
<br />ings. Last year, Anoka was one
<br />of only eight cities that held a
<br />successful Day at the Dome.
<br />If. a business, organization
<br />or group (softball team) has
<br />more than 25 in a group attend-
<br />ing they will be on the Twins-
<br />O-Gram that day. Last year Na-
<br />tional Bushing, ABC Travel,
<br />Federal Cartridge, Cornelius,
<br />
<br />Kozlaks, First National Bank
<br />and Northern Bank were all on
<br />the Twins-O-Gram. For more

<br />If you are a card player, we
<br />offer you cards Monday and
<br />Thursday nights beginning at
<br />7 p.m., Friday afternoons at 1
<br />p.m., and the 2nd and 4th Sat-
<br />urdays at 1 p.m. Bridge players
<br />are invited to come on Mon-
<br />days at 10 a.m. and cribbage
<br />players the last Thursday after-
<br />noon of the month at 1 p.m.
<br />Birthdays are celebrated on
<br />the first Thursday evening for
<br />the month beginning and the
<br />last Wednesday of the month
<br />at noon, for the month ending.

<br />Program Begins
<br />
<br />The summer program staff
<br />of 130 were inserviced at Fred
<br />Moore Jr. High by nationally
<br />known speaker, Mark Scharen-
<br />broich. He spoke to them
<br />about their tasks in the sum-
<br />mer program, and his message
<br />was highly motivating and well
<br />received.
<br />Jim Stewart, Director of
<br />Community Education, pre-
<br />sented two staff members
<br />with Letters of Recognition
<br />from the school board and a
<br />personalized t-shirt. Both Tom
<br />Yelle and Tim McLean have
<br />
<br />served in the summer program
<br />for the past 15 years and have
<br />been exceptional employees
<br />for the summer program.
<br />Mr. Bryan Daniels, Summer
<br />Program Supervisor, indicated
<br />that over 7000 .participants are
<br />registered 'for the 1985 Sum-
<br />mer Program and he feels ex-
<br />tremely positive about the
<br />quality of the summer staff.
<br />The summer program office is
<br />located at the Sandberg Mid-
<br />dle School in Anoka. For addi-

<br />once a month, prepared and
<br />served by the Senior Volun-
<br />teers as a fund-raiser for the
<br />center. A menu of waffles,
<br />pancakes (all you can eat),
<br />scrambled eggs, sausage,
<br />
<br />JUice and coffee or partial
<br />orders are available with a
<br />maximum charge of $2.50.
<br />Exercise classes started on
<br />March 7 and each Thursday
<br />thereafter at 10:30 a.m.
