1

Ramsey Economic
Development Commission

This is the second in a
series of articles on the Ram-
sey Economic Development
Commission (EDC).
The Ramsey EDC was creat-
ed in 1982 to assist and pro-
mote the growth and expan-
sion of existing and new busi-
ness and industrial concerns,
including small businesses in
Ramsey.
Most recently, the Ramsey
EDC has been working on
several major projects. The
first is a City brochure which
will be used as a tool for pro-
spective businesses to ac-
quaint them with the City of
Ramsey. The brochure will in-
clude general information on
comm unity services, i n-
dustries and industrial sites,
finance, transportation, educa-
tion, and parks and recreation.
The brochure is scheduled to
be completed sometime in Ju-
ly. '

Another item the EDC has
been working on is the crea-
tion of the Ramsey Economic
Development Company. This
is a non-profit development
company whose primary pur-
pose is to act as a liaison be-
tween the City and the private
sector as a source of informa-
tion and assistance in meeting
development needs.
The Company will be funded
through the sale of stock. Any
business or resident may pur-
chase stock in the company.
Stock shares will be sold for
$25 per share, and those pur-
chasing shares will become
voting members of the com-
pany at the annual stockhold-
ers' meeting.
The Ramsey EDC has also
become involved in the newly
formed Anoka County Eco-
nomic Development Partner-
ship (ACEDP). We all like to
have fun and while you may
not like your neighbor's
choice of music or friends,
keep in mind that yOU" may
have a graduation party one
day, or a wedding reception or
great grandma Bertha's birth-
day with a polka band and your
neighbor(s) may detest oom-
pa-pah! However, if things do

get UNREASONABLE, call and
be willing to come forward.
We'll try to calm it down to ac-
ceptable levels.
And lastly, to vent my
spleen, to those of you who
cater to the kids and think it
cutesy to provide beer, liquor
and whatever for them for your
vicarious (or maybe direct)
thrills .and let them leave to
have grinding car accidents,
walk in front of cars, get sick,
stagger around in the woods
.. .DON'T!

~.

Harold's Hardware

167th Ave. NW & Hwy. 47

Ramsey, MN

753-4010

-

.n

1

)

,\

~
,

I
1
~

}

I

J

\
~,

"-
