Future programs not yet of- fered wilt be available only when sufficient volunteers are in place to organize that sport. Naturally, the association's growth is limited to our energy to produce quality programs. Other factors do effect our full potential. This includes a team of dedicated volunteers, finan- cial support and community facilities. When these factors are in abundance, the associa- tion and each participant can expect nothing but the best. The association is looking beyond today, since our cur-. rent efforts only touch the sur- face. Unlike most neighboring communities who have the benefit of several indoor facilities in their schools, An- dover is almost void of similar facilities in ratio to popul~tion and geographic area. Therefore, the association feels an. indoor sports com- plex. is vital for thorough athletic opportunities for everyone. The association supports the idea of a com- bination of city, county, state or a federally funded project for. the construction of an In- door Sports Complex in An- dover near the City Hall. A measure like this cannot be achieved without the support of . the residents of Andover. Likewise, if Andover residents are against. this idea the association respects this posi- tion and must limit the growth of it's programs. to available resources and facilities. I I ~ I I I H t' I I ~ 1 ~- ~ I t i ! (- ~ ~ - Chamber'News These months are quiet months for our Chamber of Commerce, and reserved .for planning. At the March general mem- bership meeting, our by-laws were voted on and changed to allow the Board of Directors to begin the nominating process and election of officers earlier. What this means, is that a new Board of Directors wili be selected at an earlier date to insure a smoother transition as well as set goals for the next year. It is our intention to have representatives from each of the cities we serve on the board. The board con- tinues to discuss our involve- ment for the July 4th fireworks and finding sponsors for that event. During the next three months we will be hosting meetings in Champlin and Ramsey in order to make the Chamber more accessible to the businesses in those cities. If anyone is interested about finding out who we are, what we do and how people can benefit by joining, be sure to watch for those meetings and attend. Letters will be sent to the three city councils pledging the chamber's support for economic development for our area. It is exciting to see the support and enthusiasm Governor Perpich is receiving in his attempts to attract Gen- eral Motors to look at Minne- sota. There is no reason we cannot work together in Anoka,.
