A book sale was held in the school's Media Center where approximately $1,600 worth of children's literature was sold. Pr.ofits from this sale will go toward purchasing more books and other items that will make Ramsey School's . library even more interesting. The Rarnsey School Ad- visory Council had a finger- printing booth that, due to overwhelming response, ran out of materials' before the evening was over. They will offer the fingerprinting oppor- tunity again in December at the school's Santa Brunch. The Picture Lady Program was on display in the school lobby. ) Several of the program's volunteers were available to explain the pro- gram and answer parents' questions. The eight prints Bea Brown helps Megan Burkhammer get fingerprinted. The free service is part of the push to gain new techniques for identifying children. '.. . . Ramsey School Advisory Council The Ramsey School Ad- visory Council, made up of local residents, assists the Ramsey School staff in meet- ing the community's needs. T~e Council helps in plan- rii,ng and developing com- munity programs, improving communication between school and community, and promoting the concept of community education. Listed below are just several ex- amples of the accomp- lishments of the Council. . 41';:: Ramsey Elementary are from the Minneapolis In- stitute of Arts and present dif- ferent ways women have been depicted in art. The volunteers have been visiting grades 1-4 leading discus- sions about the works with the children. A representative group from the local Girl Scouts was also on hand to explain their programs to parents. It was estimated that over 1,600 people were in atten- dance, including Grandmas, Grandpas, brothers, sisters and many former Ramsey School families.
