The City of Ramsey will be
holding a Municipal General
Election on Tuesday,
November 6, 1984. The polls
will be open from 7:00 a.m_ to
8:00 p.m. Voters may register
to vote at the polls provided
they have the proper iden-
tification, such as a driver's
license with their current ad-
dress or a registered voter
from the same precinct to
vouch for them.
Voters in the City will be
voting for two coun-
cilmembers for a four-year
term to represent them on the
City Council. Voters City-
wide will be voting for Mayor, .
which is a two-year term of of-
fice.
Voters will vote at the same
precincts that were used for
past elections. If you are
uncertain as to whether you
are registered to vote, or as to
where you vote, contact the
City offices at 427-1410 for
information.
If you will be away from
your voting residence on elec-
tion day, are ill or are disabl-
ed, you may vote by absentee
ballot. Contact the City
Clerk's Office at 427.1410 for
a ballot application form.
Once you have received the
ballot appl ication, return the
application in sufficient time
for the ballot to be mailed to
you: Once you have received
the ballot, follow the instruc-
tions and mail it as soon as
possible.
In the City of Ramsey, all
voters use the punch card
voting system. This system
uses punch cards for
balloting and highspeed com-
puters for vote processing.
On election day, you will
receive a ballot card which
resembles a data processing

card. Using a stylus, you will
record your vote by punching
the hole next to the candidate
of your choice. Continue
down the ballot page to vote
for all the offices on the ballot
page. If you wish to record a
write-in, there is a special
place on the inside of the gray
security envelope for the
name of the office and the
name of the candidate that
you wish to write in. The
special gray envelope serves
as a: protection for the
secrecy of your voting on the
punch card. For this security,'
be sure to place your ballot
card in the envelope before
you leave the voting booth.
Return the ballot card in the
gray'envelope to the election
judge, who will in turn remove
the top stub and place the
card in the ballot box. Your
ballot card is ready for rapid
computer processing when
the polls close.
If you are unfamiliar with
the method used, be sure to
ask for help from the election
judges. They have been
specially trained to help you.
Sample ballots are also
posted in the polling place to
help familiarize you with the
location of the offices and the
name,s of the candidates. If
you make a mistake when
voting, return the ballot card
in the gray envelope to the
election judge who issued
you the ballot and request a
new ballot.
All residents who are eligi-
ble to vote are encouraged to
get out and cast your ballot on
election day, Tuesday,
November 6, 1984.
